Damn. My prayers go to Helena and her surviving family. :(

A minibus carrying the four victims rolled over when a tyre puncture sent it careering from side to side in a remote area of the bush six hours' drive from Johannesburg.

Among the dead were Eton schoolboy Marcus Egerton-Warburton, 14, the son of leading banker Charlie Egerton-Warburton, who is head of onshore private banking for the UK and Ireland at Credit Suisse.

A tribute was paid on the website of the Bembridge Sailing Club on the Isle of Wight, where both Marcus and his father were prominent members.

His mother, Fiona Bonham Carter, 51, a cousin of the actress, managed to scramble from the wreck with a broken collarbone, while Marcus' older brother Piers escaped with whiplash.

The three other victims were Fiona's mother Brenda Bonham Carter, 74, her stepfather Francis Kirkwood, 75, and Kay Boardman, the wife of Fiona's brother Graham, 48, who was also in the minibus.

The couple married only a year ago, and Mrs Boardman was due to celebrate her 55th birthday on September 1.

Mr Egerton-Warburton, estranged from his wife, flew to South Africa immediately upon learning of the accident, which happened on Wednesday.

The party had been to one game reserve and were transferring to a second area when the minibus crashed.

A Johannesburg police source said the minibus had been hired by the family and was being driven by a local guide.

The survivors were taken to Johannesburg General Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm the deaths of four British nationals in a road traffic accident on August 20.

"We are still seeking clarification about the accident from the South African authorities."

In 1991, Graham Bonham Carter escaped unhurt after an IRA bomb exploded in a litter bin at London's Victoria Station just yards from where he was standing, killing one man and injuring 38.

A spokesman for Ms Bonham Carter was not available for comment.

I wonder who was wearing seatbelts and who wasn't since the survivors have minor injuries and everyone else is dead. Fucked Up.

Well they're sending them to Helena and her family obviously. Now granted, she probably doesn't surf these boards, but on the off chance that her or someone she knows DOES come on and see this thread, then she'll know that this site has a good number of people with a little thing called COMPASSION, ya know?

tell ya what....give me her exact address and i'll be more than happy to send a letter. like jj said, it's more out of general respect and compassion to post this to show people (in the off chance) that there may be someone who actually knows someone relating to the departed.

How about a letter to their manager? Studio? I'm sure with a little effort it can be done. No?
