It's a Nicholas Cage movie. I'm sort of required to see it as I've seen all of his stuff including the God awful Wicker Man and Ghost Rider.
I'll see it.

Cage is very hit or miss? This seems like a miss. Since I married a Thai woman and I was in Bangkok in Feb, I can say like 99% of all Thai woman under 30 all look the same. Thin, short, long black hair and sexy.

Never seen the original thai version by the Pang Brothers but i saw the trailer on tv and it looks like an action film John Woo style but not as similar as Hard Boiled or A Better Tomorrow.

Guess I'm in the minority in thinking it looks like a very cool movie. I love action movies and this looks like a pretty stylish one.

I like Nicolas Cage, but I have no interest in this. It has "you've seen this done before, and better" written all over it.

Cage's acting skills are like Derek Zoolander's modeling skills.

Cool. Where did you go and what did you see? We went there from Feb 8th until the 23rd. We stayed at our house just outside Bangkok. Went into the city a bunch of times. We took a dinner river boat cruise up the main river and saw a bunch of cool places along the way. Saw the movie Charlie Wilson's War. Bought a couple of really good fake watches in a market that was something not to forget. Enjoyed going many places that do not see many white men. I was stared at the whole time. The temples are awesome. And they love their king there.
We went to Phuket. There we took a couple of boats trip. One to an island and did some snorkling. One to another island and we saw where they filmed "The Beach". Lots of Euros go toppless on the beaches there. Downtown Phuket was really cool. And got a tour of the aftermath of the tsunami.
We went to Pattaya and saw the transgender show. Walked the downtown area and was approached by at least 100 hookers. On the way home, we went to this Tiger-Alligator-Elephant zoo. There you can see how they mix in tigers to be raised with a momma pig ad a momma tiger raise baby pigs. Cute, but odd.
Next time we will go to Chiang Mai to visit friends and see the sites. I have heard it takes at least a week there to see it all.

I'm not the worlds biggest Nicolas Cage fan, but I think this looks sorta cool. I probably won't go out of my way to see it in theaters, but I'll definitely watch the DVD when it gets released.

I usually find an excuse to go to the movies every weekend, so since nothing else is out that I haven't already went to see, I'll more than likely check this out opening weekend.

I liked it but a warning to everyone: the commercials make this look like a fast paced movie with wall to wall action. It's not. It's actually a pretty slow paced movie and most of the action occurs at the end.

Well that's a killjoy. I may still check it out, but I was in the mood for a full blown action movie this weekend.

saw it tonight (it was either this or Hamlet 2... the ppl i was with wanted to see this more than Hamlet 2)
Now... it certainly isnt as bad as the piece of shit known as The Wicker Man
BUT
i found it to be pretty boring, and all in all, i found it to be simply a needless movie... it served no purpose.. its just... There!
I def dont think ppl should rush out to see this in theaters... its just a movie, that will be forgotten about in due time
i dont assign ratings to movies ever.. but to give you a feel of how i am going with this flick.. it's 5/10... it isnt very good, but it also isnt terrible... its just Bangkok Dangerous!

This movie features a predictable, dumb and probably the year’s worst ending. Before the resolution, the film is a strange amalgam of poorly structured themes and tones. On display is a nonsensical romance, a shallow student/teacher “relationship” and a hiccup of action. All of which seems to have been shot through dark gauze because the cinematography was as strange as the plot. “The concept and character are dark. So, let’s shoot the film in a dark, grainy manner.” Woof. The intermittent internal monologue was a joke as was the spoken dialogue. Truly a bad film but, as was mentioned above, some interesting kills and gore.

This film reminds me a lot of Annapolis that came out a few years ago. Both that film and this are worthless because aside from some stylized shots both films play as nothing more than a laundry list of every cliche in each film respective genre. The movie is dull and forgettable and has been done before by dozens of other hitman with a consicience films in much better and more interesting ways.
If you really want to see the film don't just rent any other of the same exact film that do it so much better such as The Matador, You Kill Me, and Grosse Point Blank.
Someone mentioned the dark ending here which is fine except its not really pulled off well and it doesn't even make much sense character wise.
If you really want to see this same kind of film that features a dark and nihilistic tone which this film tried but failed to do please please watch the little seen and brilliant Panic with William H Macy.
This film does nothing

I think Bangkok Dangerous tried to hard
It went down to many roads with absolutely no destination.
I mean what was Joe's sudden motivation behind taking on an apprentice?
I guess we were supposed to figure that out from the narration
Even though the banter between teacher and student was quite funny.
A romance that starts cute but goes nowhere.I mean why bother introducing a romance that just ends abruptly. There were some cool kills though.
Everyone in the theatre groaned at the ending

Replies in here confirm my first impressions of it. It blows, not gonna see it. Havent seen anything Cage has released recently. Wickerman left too much of a bad taste.
Man, there really is no turning back for Cage.

Despite a few moments of directoral flair, this shit stunk hard, though not on account of Cage, who was pretty convincing and likeable in the role. A terrible script is pretty much wholly to blame.
