God I love Michael Powell (& Emeric Pressburger). Despite being somewhat underwhelmed by the two films I previously saw from him (A Canterbury Tale and I Know Where I'm Going!), it still goes without saying that the man, more than any other director, makes the most beautiful color movies that ever graced the celluloid. Especially evident are the ballet sequence in The Red Shoes and the final confrontation in Black Narcissus (easily his best film). Glad you love both of them, SAI (as well as Peeping Tom, which I recall you gave a 5/5). I really, really want to see A Matter of Life and Death, but it's going to be a miracle getting a copy of that one anywhere. Eagerly anticipating its criterion release.
