It may be a little early for this thread, but seeing as Halloween is just less than two months away and I'm anxious to see what everyone plans on doing, I thought I'd start this thread a little early. :D

So, my question to fellow Schmoes is thus: What movies do you plan to see this Halloween?
-Are you going to have a movie marathon?
-Are you going to the theater?
-Do you have other plans? (Trick 'r treating, clubbing, etc.)

As for me:
I'll be heading to the theater w/ a couple of friends to see the latest available showing of Zack and Miri Make a Porno:
http://www.geekforcefive.com/images/uploads/zack-and-miri-make-a-porno_seth-rogen_elizabeth-banks.jpg

Then, I'll most likely be watching my regular Halloween ensemble:
-The Thing
-The Shining
-Evil Dead 2

I'll be watching these:

Psycho(Original)
Hellraiser
Friday The 13th
TCM ('74)

I'll be seeing RocknRolla for sure. I'm seeing Zack and Miri next weekend, but if it is really good, I may see it again once it is released in theatres.

As for horror movies, I really won't have much time considering I'll be at the theatre, but if I have time probably the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre or maybe Halloween.

I always celebrate the whole month of October with sci-fi and horror films... I usually write down a list of 30-50 movies and try to get through them all before the 31st; saving my favorites for Halloween.

I normally don't watch everything on my list, most of the time I'll turn a movie on and end up doing homework or leaving the house but, for me, it's all about the tone and feeling of October. There's something magical and refreshing about October and sci-fi/horror movies always compliment that feeling.

I'd love to see Midnight Meat Train but that probably won't be possible... (sigh).

Too many to count. Lots and lots of horror movies. I'm going to try to watch a bunch I haven't seen before to make it more exciting.

Not sure yet. I'm in the process of making a huge list. I'll watch at least 30 horror films in that time. Just depends on what i end up putting on the list.

If I have time I'll finally watch Phantasm 1-4 again, I've had the Sphere set for a couple of months and haven't gotten round to watching them :(.

Hellraiser 1 and 2 are also on my list.

Feel free to share your lists as you start piecing them together.

I'm starting to beef up a queue of films I intend to my rounds to. I'm trying to keep the list as fresh as possible by adding as many horror films I've yet-to-see onto the list. Of course, I'm still saving The Shining, The Thing, and Evil Dead 2 for the eve/day of Halloween. Anyway, here's my list:
-Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight
-Candyman II: Farewell to the Flesh
-The Deadly Spawn
-Village of the Damned (Carpenter)
-John Carpenter's 'Vampires'
-Shocker
-Lord of Illusions
-Nightbreed
-Dolls (Gordon)
-Castle Freak
-Beyond Re-Animator
-Monkey Shines

We usually watch a movie or two every day of October, plus a few Halloween themed shows like Mtv's Fear and the "Halloweenie" episode of Pete & Pete.

I'm not sure what I will actually be doing on Halloween itself, but sometime leading up to it, some friends and I will probably tell scary stories (we may be college kids, but that never gets old), look up creepy videos on youtube, watch a supernatural themed horror flick, or go driving through creepy backroads late at night.

Maybe we'll do all of that. But yeah, any suggestions for good supernatural horror films? I've seen The Shining, The Amityville Horror (both), Session 9, and I'm always looking for more.

Okay, I'm in a bit more of a "Halloweeny" mood now, mainly because the stores are starting to stock up on Jason masks and Freddie claws; that's my sign that the season is coming.

There's one movie that I watch every Halloween, have for years, and will again this year ...

http://www.zaldiva.com/images/POSTERS/EVIL%20DEAD/evildeadmoviescoreposter_pic1.jpg

For my money, there is nothing better than popping some popcorn, turning down the lights, and popping in the VHS of The Evil Dead during the midnight hours of October 31st.

Good choice Kenspt, last Halloween I popped in The Gate. People where watching it as the party went along. I also screend Cannibal Holocaust.

This Halloween, I dont know, I think Ill go with something like Phantasm just to see how people will react to it.

The thing is, Halloween is on a Friday night this year, which means I'm most likely going to be at a party.

So, if I do watch a movie, it's gonna' have to be an insomniac type showing, during which I'll probably be pretty damn baked; not that that's a bad thing. :D

I do plan on seeing Saw V since I've seen each entry every year on Halloween.

Regardless of what peoples feelings on the quality of the films are, I love the fact that the Saw series has ingrained itself in the fabric of Halloween season.

Im gonna try to watch one horror movie leading up to a marathon on Halloween Night.

Marathon:
Child's Play
Friday The 13th part 3 in 3D!!!!!
Halloween

and maybe a few more. But I need some reccomendations for the other 30. Anything that gives off the Halloween feel. Im more into stupid horror movies. Nothing that's like a mindfuck. Stuff like April Fools Day, Slumber Party Massacre. Basically Stupid Slasher movies. What do you think?

Pumpkinhead- An unstoppable demon raised from a pumpkin patch that goes on a killing spree of revenge- it doesn't get much more Halloweeny than that. It hasn't aged all that well, but it's a pretty good B flick.

Fright Night- All kinds of ghouls and creatures in this one, complete with the ultimate 80s vibe.

An American Werewolf in London- Just a great werewolf flick that always puts me in a good Halloween mood.

The Fog (the original)- One of Carpenter's best IMO.

Jacob's Ladder- One of the most twisted, intriguing, and complex horror films around. However, this is very much a “mindfuck” flick, so you might want to skip it.

Christine- Not as good as the novel, but definitely worth seeing (and owning in my humble opinion). One of King's best movie adaptations handled by Carpenter.

Re-Animator- A horror comedy only second to the Evil Dead franchise. This movie has lots of gore and lots of fun.

Misery- A great Stephen King film, one of the most original takes on the serial killer genre you can find.

Critters- The anti-E.T. movie.

Tremors- Lots of fun.

Anyway, you've probably already seen a few, if not all, of these but I hope the list helps some.

In case you guys are looking for some flicks to check out, I've compiled a list of "safe" movies for the season--flicks that are guaranteed to service for a good Halloween experience for you, your friends, your family, whathaveyou...

Here are some more family friendly goods:
Beetle Juice (1988)
Contains: Comical violence throughout, one "fucking", and many references to death & the afterlife, including depictions of dead characters
Besides the infamous "f" bomb, it's a rather appropriate film and its fun for all ages. I loved (and was scared by it) as a kid, and it's one of the few films I still love as an adult.

The Adams Family (1991)
Contains: The kids use fake blood and body parts, at least 5 damns, and Gomez smoking it up throughout most the movie.
Both this and its sequel (Adams Family Values) function as a fun, family-oriented Halloween experience.

Little Shop of Horrors (1986)
Contains: There is some blood, there are four uses of the word "shit", several "sluts", and a man inhales laughing gas as a drug.
This horror/musical kicks bottom! If you love the Ghostbusters movies, you'll dig this.

Ghost Busters (1984)
Contains: ... who am I kidding, you've already seen this!
If all else fails and you got to find something, grab this one along with its sequel and you'll be set.

The Monster Squad (1987)
Contains: This film is actually quite violent in some places: stuff gets blown to pieces and shit gets stabbed, but most of it is slapstick and none of it is extreme; the kids swear in the movie quite a bit but no "f" bombs; the monsters might scare little ones.
This movie is great and for those you love stuff like The Goonies. Stan Winston recreates the classic movie monsters and Fred Dekker directs this in all-out 80s style!

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Contains: The sight of many of the bizarre and somewhat monstrous looking creatures that populate Halloweentown might be unsettling or downright frightening to some younger kids.
This is just a really fun film. Sure, it's a "Christmas movie" but it's Halloween in spirit. It runs only 76 minutes long, but it fits and it works.

Now, for some more adult fare:
Halloween (1978)
Contains: Some nudity, big deal... and a dog gets nabbed, several dudes and dudetts get shived, Donald Pleasence is bald.
What's Halloween without Halloween? I know, I'm too damn witty for my own good! Be sure to go the whole nine yards and nab Halloween II and Halloween H20 to go along with it and have a marathon--those films together make for one nice trilogy.

The Exorcist (1973)
Contains: A Max Van Sydow that looks strangely the same as he does today, lots of intense scenes, the possessed 12-year-old girl violently and repeatedly sticks a cross into her crotch in a masturbatory fashion, 13 "f" bombs... 13 mothafucka!
This movie is a classic and amazingly still holds up today as one of the scariest movies ever made.

The Evil Dead (1981)
Contains: Long story short, this was originally rated "NC-17"... to pull a quote from Predator 2, "Shit happens." However, the good news is that if it was released to cinemas today it would most likely be "R", especially since movies like "Hostel" and "Saw" contain material just as, if not more, intense.
The entire Evil Dead trilogy is amazing and is as follows: The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness. With each entry they become less serious and more comedy/action oriented, but each film is great in its own right.

The Shining (1980)
Contains: A scene of full frontal female nudity, the infamous elevator visions, redrum, plenty of blood and gore to warrant its "R" rating, and nearly a dozen F-words.
Pure awesomeness! Kubrick and King together, what more could you ask for? There are some changes from the novel that upset some hardcore King fans, but the film is undoubtedly a masterpiece none-the-less.

Black Christmas (1974)
Contains: A high level of sexual vulgarity (or as I like to call it, "sweet talk", he he), lots of vulgarity in general, some on screen violence, and intense material throughout.
Like A Nightmare Before Christmas, this is very Halloween in spirit, but this isn't any kids movie. I first stumbled upon this last year and it scared the crap outta me, which really was a surprise. I just recently bought a copy and plan on watching it sometime next month.

The Thing (1982)
Contains: Violence and gore throughout, intense material throughout, profanity throughout, awesomeness abound!
Finally, I thought I'd wrap up with my favorite horror gem. The Thing is one beast of a movie!

This plan all comes down to the fact if I will be working or not.

1.)Zack and Miri make a Porno- First showing, last showing, or whenever in between. I will defiantly be seeing that movie on halloween.

2.)The movies of Rob Zombie. All of them were great pieces of film and what other night would be better then halloween, maybe lent.
