In a similar vein as my Disney villains thread, Let's name our favorite Disney musical numbers.
1. Hellfire (Frollo-Hunchback of Notre Dame): As has been said before, it takes a lot of guts to do a number like this in a Disney movie. Too bad the film has been frequently forgotten.
2. Be Prepared (Scar-The Lion King): Besides showcasing Jeremy Irons' surprising singing talent, where else can you find Nazi imagery in the animal kingdom?
3. Poor Unfortunate Souls (Ursula-Little Mermaid): Never underestimate the importance of BODY language! ;)
Any others?

If Fantasia counts, A Night on Bald Mountain and The Sorceror and the Apprentice take the cake. If not, then Hakunamatata, I guess.

Fantasia owns of course...however if we're talking features/stories:
1. Beauty and the Beast-From Beauty and the Beast: Call me a pussy if you want, but the scene is awesome. The animation is beautiful, the song is great, the emotional weight is wonderful and the PS at the end with the candles burning down and Chip being sent to "the cuppard" is wonderful.
2. Bonjour/Little Town-From Beauty and the Beast: An awesome intro to the movie with a great song. Wonderful animation and character stuff. Very fun...and the reprise later when Bell runs to on the hill and sings "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere..." always gives me goosebumps...awesome.
3. Seconded on Be Prepared-From The Lion King:Very creepy and astounding voice work from Jermy Irons.
4. I always really enjoyed HI-HO-From Snow White: The first thing I think of when I think of animated features (it being the first).
5. A Whole New World-From Aladdin: The only "slow scene" I didn't fast forward as a kid. Beautiful stuff.

Agree with you on Hellfire and Be Prepared. But for a third one I'd have to go with Why Should I Worry from Oliver & Company.

Usually, villains have the best songs in the Disney flicks, so I would have to pick "Hellfire" from Hunchback, "Be Prepared" from The Lion King, and, as my third choice, I really like Gaston's big number from Beauty and the Beast.

Any from THE LITTLE MERMAID, especially Poor Unfortunate Souls. "Life's full of tough choices, ain't it?". I also love the flowers number from ALICE IN WONDERLAND. And Be Prepared from THE LION KING.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice - Fantasia
Night on Bald Mountain - Fantasia
Hellfire - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Be Prepared - The Lion King
Hi-Ho - Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Under The Sea - The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast - Beauty and the Beast
I Wanna Be Like You - The Jungle Book
Friend Like Me - Aladdin
Prince Ali - Aladdin
Colors of the Wind - Pocahontas
How am I the first to mention Colors of the Wind? That song is spectacular.

"Beauty and the Beast" - Beauty and the Beast
It's the most beautifully filmed Disney number, the ballad is lovely and romantic, and with a splendid Angela Lansbury singing it, you have a classic, iconic moment in the world of animated films.

You know, I haven't heard that song in a long time. Now, I can't get it out of my head.

Could you refresh my memory: what was Gaston's number?
If Fantasia counts, A Night on Bald Mountain and The Sorceror and the Apprentice take the cake. If not, then Hakunamatata, I guess.
I had not originally intended to count Fantasia, but since you mention it, Bald Mountain was excellent and I personally liked the one that featured all the prehistoric animals from the Pre-Cambrian to the Cretaceous. I trace my childhood fascination with dinosaurs to that number.

"I Wanna be Like You" - King Louie - The Jungle Book
The most infectious of the musical numbers and one of the most dance-able, as can clearly be seen;)
