Who here loves this movie? I know I do. It is painfully underrated. Its got great acting from all involved. Its very well directed and has a great screenplay. What I love is how scary this movie actually is. It is very suspenseful. It doesnt rely on pop scares or monsters or killers. Most of scares come from the dialog and the tension that builds ups from scene to scene. Its psychological terror at its best. Samuel L. Jacksons monologue about how they were all going to die was chilling as hell. The film has a great score as well. Now the ending was weak, it felt a bit rushed but it wasnt nearly as terrible as people make it out to be. Its just weak. But everything else is superb.
Lets show some love for Sphere.

Strange... Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, Samuel L. Jackson... and yet I am drawing a total blank. I'm only being reminded of Cube because of the similar titles. Why do I have no recollection of any film starring Queen Latifah dammit?! Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

With the exception of 'The Blair Witch Project' this is the only movie I have ever heard booed at the cinema.
I think - note: think - it was dreadful, but it is one of maybe five movies I have promised a rewatch just in case I have matured enough to appreciate it's charms.
I will come back to this thread in a few days.
Meanwhile, I will say that, from what I remember, it was a shit mix of 'The Abyss and , for some reason, 'Event Horizon'.
To be concluded...

The last time I saw this was when I was 13, so I spent most of the movie rewinding the part where they made funny voices after sucking in helium.
Methinks another, more critical viewing is in order...

Underrated no way, god awful is more like it. Sorry friends, but this is yet another horrible adaption of a classic Michael Crichton novel. Offered none of the suspense the novel had, and the performances never really rang true for me. SHEESH!!!! and people said Congo was awful.

I found it to be a pretty good adaptation of the novel. I just honestly dont see what makes it so terrible.

Since the original post isn't quite long enough to be considered a review, I'm going to move this to Past Horror (I've been pimping out the Past Horror forum anyway).

Queen Latifah is barely in the film. Plus she meets a pretty cool death, so its not to bad;)
