I don't know if there's a thread like this yet, and if there is I apologize in advance. But I do know that this is different from a regular Top 10 list, so I'd figure I'd throw it out there.

If you were stranded on a deserted island after some horrible, Zemeckis-directed plane crash, with no hope in sight, and were left with a TV, DVD player, and 10 movies/tv shows (each TV show counts as one slot) of your choosing, which would you pick? Would you go with your usual Top 10? Would you go with the films of your favorite filmmakers, actors, writers? One genre? One of everything?

I'll get the ball rolling:
American Psycho
Gattaca
The King of Comedy
The Godfather
Taxi Driver
Dumb and Dumber
Psycho
Hannah and Her Sisters
Love and Death
Eyes Wide Shut

I got a few of my Top 10 on there by filing them under the "two birds with one stone" category. I need my fair share of movies that pleasantly creep me out (American Psycho, The King of Comedy, Eyes Wide Shut), my masterpieces (The Godfather, Taxi Driver, Psycho), my comedies, both sophisticated and stupid (Love and Death, Hannah and Her Sisters, Dumb and Dumber). I'm a happy guy. Interestingly though, I left off my all-time favorite, 2001: A Space Odyssey, because in the situation of being stuck on an island I don't think I'd want to think about the progression of humankind and how I couldn't be of any help to it.

What say you all?

The Battleship Potemkin
The Grand Illusion
Bicycle Thieves
The Third Man
Sunset Blvd.
The Seventh Seal
Breathless
Lawrence of Arabia
Princess Mononoke
Magnolia

Ten films I shamefully haven't seen, and wouldn't want to die having never watched.

If you were stranded on a deserted island after some horrible, Zemeckis-directed plane crash, with no hope in sight, and were left with a TV, DVD player, and 10 movies/tv shows . . .

You know . . . I'm betting that's what was in the Fedex box that wasn't opened.

Castaway
Six Days & Seven Nights (Just because..)
Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade
South Park - Season 6
The Mummy
Rocky IV
X-Men
Pride & Prejudice
Signs
Forrest Gump

The choices above just came to mind for no real reason other than I enjoy watching them on occasion and I guess if I was going to be stuck on a island I wouldn't mind seeing these one last time.

I'd be a happy guy. Fuck that volleyball shit.

I totally forgot to put some TV shows on my list, strange considering that I love one particular show more than I do any movie I've ever seen and I'm much more a film guy than I am a TV one.

My Updated List: *denotes new
American Psycho
Gattaca
The King of Comedy
The Godfather
Taxi Driver
Dumb and Dumber
Psycho
Hannah and Her Sisters
The Sopranos*
Seinfeld*

I'll forever stand by it: The Sopranos is the greatest story put to celluloid. And I'll need a laugh or so on the island, so Seinfeld has the most to offer me (more than the short lived Freaks and Geeks and Arrested Development, admittedly richer shows).

Cast Away
Gilligan's Island DVDs
Lost DVDs

There's gotta be some good ideas for survival in there. :D
