We all know cinema's classic scores. We got Jaws, Star Wars, Godfather, Indiana Jones, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Halloween, Requiem For A Dream, Rocky, Psycho etc..

But what are the scores that dont get much love?

I'll start off:
-Terminator 2: Judgment Day
-Gremlins
-First Blood
-Back To The Future
-Pirates of the Caribbean
-Superman
-Jurassic Park
-Amittyville Horror
-The Fountain

you're likely to think I'm crazy here but...
Cannibal Holocaust has a GREAT score. It's got some very chilled music that seems utterly at odds with the film, but actually works brilliantly. Really, here's a couple of samples.

Main theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf1Vt6r-sj8)
Adultress' Punishment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf1Vt6r-sj8)

Also Badlands, a score so good it was recycled for True Romance

The Conversation
Star Wars Prequels
Fargo (whether its original or not, that opening peice of music is beautiful)

Also, totally agree with Cannibal Holocaust (I've only seen the first 5 minutes of the movie):o

I'm not sure I'd call the Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, and Superman scores underrated. I don't think The Fountain's score is underrated, as much as the movie itself suffers from underexposure. Everyone who knows it seems to love it, and it's already been used in 2 trailers, that I know of.

Though in general, I'm a bit confused as to what constitutes an underrated score.

Anywho, a few that come to mind...

Days of Heaven
Akira
The Matrix
The Prince of Egypt
Fargo
Magnolia
Blade Runner (kind of)
Seven Samurai (again, kind of)
Kung Fu Hustle
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
Babel
L.A. Confidential

Really, this list could go on forever.

King Kong (2005)
The Incredibles (Michael Giacchino is amazing)

1 that i haven't seen on here yet is The Last of the Mohicans soundtrack. I absolutely love that, the only soundtrac i've ever bought that was just the music in the movie and not just songs associated with a movie

I can't see Superman's score being underrated. The theme is without a doubt one of the most awesome ones I've ever heard (well, that's me don't know about anyone else).

Sleepy Hollow was excellent. I loved Batman Returns. Star Trek 6 was great (but the best will always be Wrath Of Khan's. Good eardrum destroying music).

I've always wanted to hear Aliens but have never found it.

Just flicked onto the end of this a bit earlier and had to include it:

Definitely agreed about Land Before Time. Infact, ANYTHING by James Horner is pretty much amazing! One of the best music composers!

Uh, yeah, Jurassic Park, Superman, The Fountain, and POTC are definitely NOT underrated. POTC sold huge. Jurassic and Superman are instantly recognizable and iconic.

But there are some good choices here.

Lifeforce - great one. They use this music for football commercials now.

Ravenous, 8MM - great thriller scores.

Land Before Time - far better than the movie.

Another good animated one is An American Tail. Very sad and haunting. But even it pales when compared to the epic The Secret of NIMH.

Star Trek II and III - both by James Horner

Star Trek VI - maybe the best of the Trek movies?

The Peacemaker - Zimmer's best work if you ask me.

Predator 2 - Way better than the first.

Resident Evil Apocalypse - all three movies had great scores, but part 2 was sensational.

The World is Not Enough - possibly one of the best pure action scores ever.

And anything by Brian Tyler: Bubba Ho-Tep, War, Rambo, Tokyo Drift... this guy should be a star some day.

The score to Sunshine is absolutely beautiful. John Murphy is one of the better composers working today.

Don't feel like I even need to mention The Fountain. Clint Mansell is the best composer working today.

I'd like to give an obscure shout-out to Joe Kraemer and The Way of the Gun score. He never exactly went places, but I love his score for that film.
