Hey everyone, just wanted to ask all of you what some of your favorite sci fi movies are?
in particular order here are mines: Dune, Chronicles of Hollow Earth: The Next Race(definitely worth checking out), The Matrix (1st and 3rd), Akira, Starship Troopers (HA!), Event Horizon (this movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid), FIFTH ELEMENT (of course)...aaannndddd, that's all I can think of right now.
So what about you guys?

...dude, you and I are like on the same page with all of your movie choices. I've actually heard of The Next Race too, which earns you bonus points.

I hate to sound like a prick, but I'm gonna have to say Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" is the best sci-fi movie ever made--and yes, I've actually seen it.

Heavily edited:
Blade Runner
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Aliens
Jurassic Park
BTTF trilogy
T2
2001: A Space Odyssey (It has taken me a looooong time to really warm up to this movie, but damn if it didn't pull me in eventually.)
A Clockwork Orange
Star Wars trilogy
ET
The Fly
Dark City
Sunshine
AI
Minority Report
The Abyss
The Matrix
The Fountain
Planet of the Apes (original)
Starship Troopers
Children of Men
The Fifth Element
Robocop
Total Recall
Equilibrium
Invasion of the Body Snatchers 70s version (50s version is pretty cool too.)
The Chronicles of Riddick
Pitch Black (horror/sci-fi)
Other favorites I wouldn't classify 100% sci-fi:
I don't consider Alien, the Fly or The Thing to be sci-fi. Alien is a straight up horror movie imo, just with a sci-fi setting. The Thing is pure horror imo, the killer just happens to be an alien. The Fly is heavy with sci-fi but I would call it horror before sci-fi if asked on the street. Donnie Darko pretty much defies all genres. It's not one genre any more then another. I honestly don't know what I would call it. Eternal Sunshine I guess is sci-fi, but I don't think of it that way. I always saw it as a straight up love story. First and foremost.
