I watched this "nature runs amok" cheapie yesterday. It's not bad. The puppetry is lacking, but at least they attempted to use actual special effects instead of using superimposition techniques as a crutch. The first 20 minutes rock. We are introduced to a giant rooster right off the bat. It's as glorious as it sounds. The second act is a drag, but things pick up if you stick around long enough.
I understand that the sequel is ghastly, but I might rent it. Thoughts?

Food of the Gods!
Good call count.
We must be around the same age as I remember the hype on this flick when it came out.Me and my older brother were big novel fans back then and FOTG was one of those that we read before the movie came out.The book was awesome but I do remember the movie being a little slow.Kinda like The Prophecy. The Prophecy is in my top 5 horror novels of alltime but the movie was poor at best.Day of the Animals is another that was big in the day.
I'm sure that the success of Jaws may have had someting to do with ideas like Orca,The Deep and Tentacles.I've allways had a thing for animal flicks and have still not gotton around to watching The Breed.

The first one is a pretty fun cheesefest and I loved it growing up as a little kid. The sequel is just plain old horrible...

The original was pretty fun. Its cool that they have alot of different animals getting large and mean. I remember the wasp scene and the rooster scene the most. It ended pretty good too.
The sequel was pretty bad. I just remember giant rats and an 8 foot tall 2 year old.

I have to agree with the whole quote. I think i was around 7 when FOOD came out. I heard my older brother and sister talking about it and i was like i gotta see this!!! The great thing about these movies Prophecy,The Deep,Orca is that the all had in them a couple of memorable scenes that to this day stick in my mind. For example in Prophecy when the camper gets smashed agains a huge boulder is GREAT!!! There are tons in Orca. Bo Derek getting her leg bitten off for one. Can't forget The Brood or Rabid.
