he really has no shame. If there is a franchise, brand name or sequel in talks of a new installment this clown will attack it and make it as mediocre as possible.

At least that rules out it being as good as the original.
..and getting any type of R rating.
Fuck this.

Why do say that? (about not getting the R rating)
He did do Red Dragon which was rated R.
I like Brett Ratner. He gets a lot more flack than he deserves. He's not to blame for X-Men 3. FOX is to blame. Instead of developing the project more creatively they rushed it into production.
Having said that, while I'm not very familiar with Conan (never saw the original with Arnold) this doesn't seem like his kind of project. Ratner is a competant craftsman but he's not a visionary talent like a Steven Spielberg or a Peter Jackson. And that's probably what a Conan movie would need.
Again, I don't know much about Conan so maybe I'm wrong. But that's what I think from my little knowledge on the subject.

He's not ENTIRELY to blame fox X3, but he shares some of it.
I'm not that big a Conan fan, and it's not like the series is award-winning or anything. Ratner would do about as good a job as anyone else would with the character.

.
He just seems like the man the studios go to when they cant get any of the big guns. Hes always "plan B" cause Ratner seems to jump to do any franchise thrown his way.
From X-men, to Hannibal, to Terminator, ect, ect, he just seems to latch onto franchises that others have made GREAT and really..do..nothing special. At all.
Hes not bad, but ive never seen a movie of his that i would say was anything other then "okay". That one word would probably sum up his movie list pretty well.
..and with Terminator having a PG-13 rating(is that possible?) i really wouldnt rule out Conan having one either.
I do agree that X3 wasnt completely his fault. FOX gets most of the blame for that one.

Ratner's Agent: Well Brett, you just finished the third installments to the Hannibal and X-Men franchises and you capped off your own Rush Hour franchise. I've got some more offers for you...
Ratner: What do you got?
Agent: WB wants a new Superman.
Ratner: oOoOo! I'll take it! Only if he can fight Chris Nolan's Batman! Teh Dark Knight was awesome!
Agent: I figured you would want Batman in your move, so i already took the liberty to ask WB, they told me to call Chris...
Ratner: And?
Agent: He passed.
Ratner: awe shucks. Did you tell him about my Batman idea?
Agent: The Joker prequel?
Ratner: Yea!
Agent: I thought it best not to.
Ranter: ... why?
Agent: Well, Nolan thinks it best that the Joker should be left alone. Especially with Heath gone.
Ratner: Did he see my prequel to Silence of the Lambs? Teh Hannibal ended saying "bring Clarice in"! It's an identical bookend to Silence! We can end our prequel with the Joker planning the bank heist!
Agent: I'll look into it.
Ratner: Fuck Superman then, teh last Superman wasn't that good anyway. Not enough material to backpack off of.
Agent: We have Beverly Hills Cop 4.
Ratner: Awesome! Can Chris Tucker be Eddie Murphie's brother?
Agent: I don't know if they want him to have a sibling.
Ratner: No man, a brother... you obviously don't get black people in hollywood.
Agent: one second. Just got a fax... awe, apparently Eddie doesn't want you to do it.
Ratner: What?! He makes shit like Norbit and he turns me down!
Agent: I'm sure that's not the case.
Ratner: What about Guitar Hero? That game is really popular! Popularity and no plot! Nobody can fuck it up!
Agent: They said you could do a commercial. Here's the memo: "a commercial from this guy would be selling the product just as much as a 50 million dollar film from him, with about as much character".
Ratner: WHAT!? I'm an artist and a storyteller! Fuck them!
Agent: So will you do it?
Ratner: As long as i can get Heidi Clum in her underwear doing the risky business thing.
Agent: So the plot from your movie of Guitar Hero hasn't changed?
Ranter: Nah. How about God of War? That game is so hip and cool! Did WB like my proposal?
Agent: Well, they thought it was a bit ambitious for you.
Ratner: ... for me? What does that mean?
Agent: Did i say for you? I meant, its an ambitious budget.
Ratner: Well what do they expect? Its titans! we'll need 260 million.
Agent: They did say you could do Conan if you'd like. For a quarter of the God of War budget.
Ratner: What? Teh Connan was a shitty game compared to God of War.
Agent: No not a movie based on the game, a remake of the cult movie.
Ratner: OoOoOoO! People love teh Conan! IT'S FOOL PROOF!

The only think about this that makes me happy is that maybe it means he won't do God of War now. Thank God.
Ratner is not totally god-awful, but he's very hit and miss and I hope this one is one he gets right.
Does anyone know what studio this is for? If it's Fox, we're fucked...expect PG13 (if they did it to Die Hard, they'll do it to this...).
