Has anyone else viewed the work of this seminal experimental filmmaker? He influenced John Waters, and after watching one of his short films, it's easy to see why. Anger's films are mostly Satanic (and mostly incoherent). They could be seen as the first music videos ever made. Mick Jagger supplied the "score" (a loop of atonal noise) to the 11-minute Invocation of My Demon Brother.

I hadn't heard of Anger until I randomly came across some of his films on youtube and watched a number of them, Lucifer Rising was the best of those that I found, some odd images but at the same time pretty mesmerizing to watch. Kustom Kar Kommandos didn't do anything for me, basically a music video of a guy polishing his car with a bit fluffy white thing. I've never been a "car person" though so that might be part of the reason I didn't like it. The others (The Man We Want To Hang, Invocation Of My Demon Brother, Inauguration Of The Pleasure Dome, Puce Moment) were decent, I didn't find them as interesting as Lucifer though.

I own Lucifer Rising on VHS (!). I need to give it a watch. It helps if you're an atheist or a Satanist. The visual metaphors make a little more sense.
