Well the new album is out today. So far the reviews I`ve seen have been rather tepid. Of the four singles I`ve heard, two were very good and reminded me of the band`s early days ("The Only One" and "The Perfect Boy"), one was okay but seemed halfbaked ("Sleep When I`m Dead"), and one I didn`t like much at all ("Freakshow").
I certainly hope the production sounds better on the album than it did on the singles.

Anyways I`ll be picking this up after work.

I have this, but two other albums cam out today that I got(Ryan Adams, Bloc Party) but I will give this a listen asap. Im one of the few who loved their last self titled release, and I really enjoyed Bloodflowers. I've heard all four singles and while I enjoy all of the, The Only One is my favorite of the bunch.

Im still upset this was not a double album(apparently, one disk being poppy, the ones thats released, and a second disk of more darker Cure songs) I hope the second part gets a release soon, as I cant get too much Cure. They may not be up to par sometimes, but they're never bad.

For the hell of it, ill rank my favorite Cure albums.

Disintegration
The Head on the Door
The Cure
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
Bloodflowers
Pornography
Wish
Faith
Seventeen Seconds
Wild Mood Swings
The Top
Three Imaginary Boys

Again, it will take a few listens for 4:13 Dream to be ranked. Diggin' it so far though.

I listened to it a little last night, not enough to form a fair opinion though.

So far I already like it more than the last album. It definetly has more of a "classic Cure" sound to it.

Tis good. A solid 7/10 after three plays. It's no Disintegration though. But what is????

Yeah this is actually really good.
I`d definetly say this is their best work since "Wish".
A huge improvement over the self-titled album.

The only downer is the production. It`s awful! I mean just listen to "Only One" and "Switch". Good tunes, good vocals, but the sound is so muddled and all-over-the-place.
With better production, this could`ve been a knockout album imo.

Okay, Underneath The Stars wins best album opener of this year.

Right now, I'd give it a 8/10. I dont think any songs so far reach the strong songs of their last album(Anniversary, Us or Them, Before Three, Taking Off) but that will change with repeated listens. Great album though, and thank christ.....I hate to see the day where the cure stop trying..Thankfully for us, they haven't.

I might have to check this album out then, I really wasn't digging the four singles I've heard.
