View Full Version : Led Zeppelin to Tour... Without Robert Plant
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/7694327.stm
If Plant were a part of the deal I'd have sold limbs for a ticket, without him, I shant bother trying to get one at all. If there's one element of Zep that is truly irreplaceable it's Plant (if there's a second, incidentally, it's John Bonham) and whoever they get it just won't be right. I hope Plant won't let them tour as Led Zeppelin to be honest, because describing only half the original members as such is tantamount to false advertising.
Apparently they are also planning a record with the new vocalist, whoever it is. Yikes.

Take it for what it's worth, but I read a rumor somewhere that one of the guys near the top of the list is Myles Kennedy, the singer for Alter Bridge.

This would be like if Paul and Ringo got back together and went out on tour as The Beatles...even though there'd be no John or George. Even The Who continuing without both Entwistle and Moon doesn't quite seem right.

I'll be unsure of how I feel about this until the replacement Plant is announced.

JPJ hinted that Plant may not be interested NOW, but possibly down the line.
It just needs to happen. Yeah, sure...I'd love to see Plant and JPJ tearing it up...but it just wouldn't be the same. I had the chance to see Plant live a couple years ago, and it was just phenomenal. If Plant and JPJ want to tour, great...but please don't use the Zeppelin name.
At this point, there have been some many "announcement" and rumours, it's just ridiculous at this point.
Plant has said he doesn't want to tour for two years. I can't, though, see him failing to record another album with Alison Krauss, because Raising Sand was such a roaring success, and he'll probably want to tour that.
I love Zeppelin, don't get me wrong, but I think I'd rather see Plant tour his new material, which he seems to feel so passionate about, than trudge round the world with Zep trying to recapture something that was left behind almost 30 years ago.
As for the replacement... might I suggest Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes. He did a sterling job with Zep tracks when the Crowes toured with Jimmy Page. That I might think about going to.
