Where the Hill, Sam have I been?
I only heard about their upcoming album today. :( I listened to the single "Human". It'll probably grow on me, like "Bones" did. :)

Have a listen.

"Human" has definately gotten better with repeat listens for me, but it's nowhere near as good as their previous first singles, "Somebody Told Me" and "When You Were Young." I'm hoping that the album is better than the single, but from what I've heard this is the direction that they've gone with the whole cd. I loved both Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, so I'm hoping to love this one as well, but I'm not too encouraged yet.

Have you heard "Sawdust"? That one's not shabby.
I've got "Who Let You Go?" on repeat for some reason.

Yeah I was surprised by how much I liked Sawdust. I didn't think a Killers B-sides album would be all that great (especially after only 2 cds), but it was actually very enjoyable.

Sawdust is great. All killer, no filler.
I would say The Killers are one of my favorite bands. I don't know why. Their music just makes me feel good. Looking forward to this new album.

The version of "Sam's Town" is quite purdy, I must say. Might be my favorite track. Might.

I very much annoyed my former roommates with my rotation of Hot Fuss, Sam's Town, and Sawdust. Days, it lasted. Days. :D
They're a favorite band of mine too.

The lyrics on "Human" grate me, but I dig their Joy Division cover. (I think that's what it was...) Usually band fashions don't concern me, but I was glad to see them not looking like circus performers on SNL. Big time. Happy Halloween, The Killers "Day and Age".

"Daddy's Eyes" has gotta be my favorite track on Sawdust, I love the guitar in that one.
I know a lot of people don't like Sam's Town all that much, but I'm one of the few who actually like it better than Hot Fuss. And you gotta respect a band who goes in a completely different direction with their music that early in the career after releasing a hit debut. And it seems like Day and Age will be another 180 for the band, as I hear its like a Duran Duran or David Bowie record.

I'm with you on that, actually. Not that I don't love Hot Fuss.

Likewise. Also loved Sawdust. Good collection of covers and the b-sides aren't bad either.
"Human" is decent. Extra cheesy, but that's just the Killers' style. Hope the new album isn't entirely like that song though.

The Killers have definitely grown on me over the years. After the first listen to Sam's Town, I really really wasnt feelin it but after a number of more listens I dig it now.
I still wont shed any tears if Brandon Flowers gets hit by a bus though. Cocky little shit.

I'm surprised there's so many people who enjoy The Killers...I always thought they were kinda looked down upon...
That said, I'm with the consensus here - I've always dug The Killers and I'm interested to see where their new album goes.

I was walking around Union Square today and saw a poster for their new album up at Virgin Megastore. I didn't know they had anything new coming out! I am also in the majority that LOVED Sam's Town, and I also love their cover of Joy Division's "Shadowplay." It sounds like they could have written it themselves.
However, "Human" just isn't doing anything for me. The music is pretty, but the lyrics and singing just sound...lazy. I don't know how to explain it. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. :) This is a band I've seen live in concert twice, and I hope nothing but the best for them!

Sam's Town was a good album, but I feel that Hot Fuss is the more acessible of their albums. Cannot wait for this one even thought the lead single is medicore.

My take on The Killers...
Hot Fuss was a great one sided record. Just couldnt get into half of the tunes on it but the ones I did are damn damn good songs.
Sam's Town blew me away from first song till the last. One of my fave records of all time. It took a bunch of spins for all the songs to hit me but they did. Bling, My List, and Who Do I Keep Counting are fantastic songs.
Sawdust didnt really get me because of the 'Hot Fuss' B-Sides on there. Maybe one day Ill get into those tunes a bit more. That said, Sweet Talk, Romeo & Juliet, Shadowplay, and Tranqulize are all excellent.
...and speaking of Sweet Talk, Human is cut right out of that mold. They had the guy who recorded Sweet Talk do Day & Age. At first I was let down but after a while I concider Human worthy of being in place with all the other Killers great tunes. I hear some say the lyrics are bad but that 2nd verse really really hits me and sets up the whole song for me now. The other song Ive heard is obviously Spaceman and its great as well. Looks like they are meshing the Hot Fuss and Sam's Town sound together. I like it...alot.
Saw them live last year and the concert was great, Brandon is a great frontman.
Cant wait till I can hear the whole record.

I know Lady Version digs them, and she moderates the forum, so she can ban me, but The Killers - with the exception of 'Tranquilize' and 'All these Things That I've Done' - are second only to Razorlight in terms of 'Eh, who is buying this stuff?'.
Their popularity is bewildering. I like Black Kids more than I like The Killers. Fuck, I think Cage the Elephant are better.
True.

I actually quite like Human. It doesn't blow me away or nothing close. But it's a serviceable little pop song. No more. No fucking less. Hot Fuzz was about half a great album and Sam's Town, although immediately interesting, was eventually grating. And i've seen them twice live (or should I say i've suffered them twice live because they were really very boring). So having quickly done the math(s) i'm close to 50/50 where The Killers are concerned. Paul Calf suggests that their success is as bewildering as that of Razorlight. Well given the precipitous slide into medioctrity that Borrell and his cohort have succeeded in excelling at I would say that's a little harsh. I guess only time (and a third album) will tell. I wait with not even the slightest of bated breath.

Don't really like "Human" that much. They're a good band but I hope the new album is better than that.

After hearing the studio version of "Spaceman" I have a lot more hope for the album. It's much much better and catchier than "Human".

I actually really like "Human". It`s got a cool 80s vibe to it. Could use more guitar though.

Anyone else here heard this yet? I've been hearing a lot of complaints that it's too slow and a lot of people seem to hate it. I personally think it's great. I've listened to it 3 or 4 times and I like almost every song a lot. It is definately different from their other 2 cds, and may not be as good as either of them, but I think it's a worthy addition to their catalogue.

How well do you guys think this album is going to do? I have no access to cable and never listen to the radio, and I don't get online as much as I used to, so I have no idea how well this album is being promoted. As I said earlier in the thread, the only reason I found out about the release was seeing a huge poster at Virgin Megastore. Are the songs being played on the radio or anything?
I was telling my friends (who went with me both times to see The Killers live) how I bought it yesterday and they weren't aware of the new cd either.
And this morning I was reading new album reviews at Rollingstone.com, and they gave better ratings for people such as Taylor Swift and *gasp* Nickleback!! Seriously!

I've been hearing "Human" almost nonstop on rock radio, so it's definately being promoted well. I think this album will probably sell similarly to what Sam's Town did. Spaceman will probably be a big single as well so that should help down the line.

Has anyone heard "Forget About What I Said" and "Tidal Wave" yet? -- they're bonus tracks on the iTunes version. I still don't know if I'm going to buy it at the store or through iTunes.
The Killers rock, and I'm really looking forward to Day and Age. I hope to see them in concert in the near future.

I downloaded the Japanese version which has 2 bonus tracks, "Forget About What I Said" and "A Crippling Blow." They're both good songs. Haven't heard "Tidal Wave" though.

Day & Age will take many spins to get into. Neon Tiger seems to be my fave so far. Joy Ride is pretty cool. Nothing knocking me out like Sam's Town just yet. Its sinking in...They are a really good band.

Does anyone here download their remix promos as well? I got the remix promos for When You Were Young, Mr. Brightside, and Human - I like the Jacques Lu Cont (Stuart Price) version of When You Were Young more than the original.
And I'm digging Day & Age a lot. I think they've broadened their own sound and palette in the same kind of way TV on the Radio did with Dear Science. Joy Ride, I Can't Stay, This is Your Life, and Goodnight, Travel Well are my favorites so far but I think the entire album is pretty great in general.

It's a pretty good song, but I'm not sure it's worth paying $2 more for the iTunes version.

1. Sam's Town
2. Hot Fuss
3. Day & Age
I purchased Day & Age (I decided to get the iTunes version) the other day, and I've already listened to it four times. Overall, it's a solid album, but it's nowhere near as awesome as Hot Fuss or as mind-blowing as Sam's Town. Perhaps it'll grow on me even more with repeated listens. As of right now, though, I'd say it's The Killers' weakest album.
My favorite tracks are "Spaceman" (my absolute favorite track; when I listen to this song, I think about The X-Files, and I'm a huge fan of the show), "Losing Touch", "This Is Your Life", "Human", "Tidal Wave", and "Goodnight, Travel Well" (this is my second favorite track; it's somber, epic, and the darkest song The Killers have ever put together).

I've only given it one listen, but I absolutely love "This Is Your Life" and "Spaceman." Being that I'm not well acquainted with band styles, I can't really say what type of sound Flowers and Co. are going for. I still prefer Sam's Town overall.

The Killers consistently have some of the worst lyrics of all time. I can never look past that, even though the music can be pretty catchy.

Finally got a copy.
I'm on "Spaceman". "Human" definitely grew on me. I like it so far. (Three tracks in, lulz.)
