I watched "The Tripper" on Halloween night and was shocked that I had never heard of this before. Ronald Reagan killing hippies with an axe....how in the world could I have missed this?!?! Read about the release problems and maybe that was part of it.
Any thoughts on it? It was heavy handed with the political messages but the premise was a lot of fun (killer in a reagan mask at a music festival), the gore was sufficient, and hell even Pee Wee Herman was in it. I thought it was a strong directorial debut by David Arquette and a fun little slasher.

I found this one OK,with some wild, trippy directing and a decent premise.
Courtney Cox is listed on Flixster as the film's star, but I don't remember her being in it.

You have to give her credit,in those 20 seconds she really outshone every other character in the film. She was the film's true star. :p

The Tripper is a slasher to watch when your high, it is fun and funny. Arquette proves here he is much better behind the camera.

I saw it once and I thought it was okay. I doubt I'll ever watch it again though.

Meh it was alright. Worth a rental.
The concept was great (a slasher in a Regan mask who hates hippies and liberals) but Arquette didn`t really capitalize (pun intended) on it.
The cast was great though!

Arquette has crafted one of the best and most underrated slasher films in years with a great cast, lots of laughs and some excellent gore.

I was in this film (as an extra and stand-in). They filmed this in Big Basin state park which is about 20 minutes from where I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It was amazing getting to be on the set everyday, hanging with the stars and watching them make a horror film before my very eyes. I will never forget it. Check out my pics for pics from the set.
One moment I will truly never forget is playing hacky-sack with Jason Mewes, David Arquette, Richmond Arquette and Chris Nelson. Good times!

She had a 10-20 second cameo as a hippy defending the rabid dogs being shot at just before being mauled by one herself. Lol.
