Strangely, I haven't seen this posted up anywhere else. If this thread already exists somewhere, forgive me. However, as is, I think we could use a thread for the upcoming "Bubba Ho-Tep" sequel, "Bubba Nosferatu". Well, it was just uncovered recently through an exclusive interview with Paul Giamati (who'll be starring the upcoming sequel as Col. Parker) that Ron Pearlman will be filling in for Bruce Campbell's empty shoes. Here are some excerpts from the article:

Paul Giamatti: [Director Don Coscarelli's] movies are amazing. They are totally unique, you know? So then he asked me if I was interested in doing this one and I was just like “You have got to be kidding me. Yeah, absolutely!” I said, “I have a little production company and we can help you guys do this” and he brought me in onboard and now we have got Ron Perlman interested in playing Elvis...

...He’s a great guy. He’s an amazingly great guy and I’ve always loved him as an actor, so when he actually was interested, I couldn’t believe our luck man, like “This is fucking great!” He’s a really terrific guy...

Every effort was made by us, [Bruce Campbell] just didn’t want to do it and he was cool about it. He just didn’t want to do it, which is a bummer, because part of the reason I love that movie is him… a big part of it. He’s fantastic and I’ve always loved him. I’m a big fan of his, but he didn’t want to do it, which is totally cool.

So, what do you guys/gals think? Can Pearlman's uber-coolness measure up to Campbell's badassness?

Cool as Ron Pearlman is (and he's fucking cool). I don't think it could work and I think I echo Joe Lansdale's wishes that any possibility of a sequel be laid...as Elvis was...to rest. Please!!!

Ron is THE MAN.

He's just not THAT MAN.

No Campbell, no sequel.

Sorry.

Campbell doesnt want to do it. Fuck it! I love Bruce but if he doesnt want to do it, move on. Perlmans just as cool as Campbell. Im sure it'll be fun.

I can't give this my blessing after the performance Bruce Campbell gave.

So Campbell turned this down because...what, he had some sure-fire blockbusters on the backburner? Him not reprising the role makes absolutely no sense to me.

If there was one other B-list (though that is quite arguable) character actor to fill the shoes, though, that man would be Ron Pearlman. Stoked for this.

I vaguely - very vaguely - remember Campbell saying that these films could run for years if you put 'Bubba' in front of a famous horror character. He cited 'Bubba Nosferatu' as an example.

This decision makes no sense to me, but his decision is, let's face it, probably based on the fact that an acclaimed actor with a small production company has taken an interest in the film. When that happens, do you think Bruce is going to jump aboard immediately, knowing that the film has break out potential, or do you think he will call their bluff and hold out for a bigger share of the pie?

'Bubba Ho-Tep' was small, cult, indepedent, and of interest to a devout following of niche names in a niche market. 'Bubba Nosferatu' has an Academy award nominee and bankable star who can draw a far bigger audience...

Don't you think that after working for peanuts on the last film, Campbell is simply saying: 'Pay me what I am worth'...Knowing that his following will be crying out for his appearance?

Well if this is some scheme on his part, then they definetely called his bluff.

If Bruce Campbell, despite how awesome his performance in the first film was, doesn't want to do it then screw him. Let him be a party pooper. Ron Perlman is an excellent replacement.

I can't wait to see this.

Perlman is an underrated actor and can pull this off. It's too bad that Bruce Campbell won't be returning, but Perlman is a good and suitable replacement.

Ron Pearlman is a great choice for a replacement. He's also the exact kind of actor I consider Bruce to be, so he's a perfect fit all around.

It sucks that Bruce won't return for the role since he did such a great job in Bubba Ho-Tep but I'm happy with Perlman stepping into the role, he's a great actor and it's always great to see him on screen.

I'm thrilled to hear Paul Giamatti's gonna be part of this; I love when really established and beloved indy actors go for fare that some consider "low-brow" (though as an unabashed horror fan I am not in that camp). I think he will definitely add some new life to the project, something needed after Campbell's departure.

Perlman is cool and everything........but as Elvis? Ehhhhh, I don`t know.

Personally I don`t think there should be a sequel, Campbell or no.

If anybody, give the role to Kurt Russell.

Perlman is awesome. I loved Buba-Ho-tep, a returning role for Campbell would of been awesome as well but if he doesn’t want to do it oh well.

I heard creative differences between Campbell and Coscarelli. Campbell left the project to keep their friendship intact.

Campbell left pretty early too, to my understanding.
