Let's talk about how awesome Are You Afraid of the Dark? is/was. I just watched a few episodes on YouTube, and they really hit the spot. A show like this would never be made today. It didn't sell you anything, it wasn't tied to sickening teen pop sensations, and it was actually well-written for a Nickelodeon series. I always preferred it to the dopey Goosebumps TV series.

My favorite episode is "The Ghastly Grinner." It scared the living FUCK out of me as a kid. The Grinner was a badass villain. He was a cross between Pennywise and The Joker. Of course, he never kills anyone, but he's still one creepy douchebag.

Who else loves this show? I encourage everyone to revisit Afraid on YouTube. It seems like they have most of the episodes.

My friend and I were just reminiscing about how amazing this show was. A most excellent thread sir. Dead Man's Float, was by far the best episode ever. I remember when i was somewhere around 4 and I saw that, and refused to go swimming for weeks. Great Great great show
