Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Friday the 13th - Uncut, Deluxe Edition on 3rd February 2009. Sean S. Cunningham directs this horror classic which is given its Blu-ray Disc debut to coincide with the theatrical release of the remake.
Details are slim on the classification, but the Uncut status is backed up by an Unrated US Rating (instead of the previous editions’ R rating). Extras are likely to match the DVD release and include:
* Commentary by director Sean Cunningham (on the WB international version - trying to access*)
* Fresh Cuts: New Tales from "Friday the 13th"
* Man Behind the Legacy: Sean S. Cunningham
* Friday the 13th - Special Reunion
* Lost Tales from Camp Blood - Part 1
* Theatrical Trailer - Used on 2004 release
Friday the 13th, Part II and Friday the 13th, Part II 3-D will also be released in DVD Deluxe Editions. Not sure if those will get Blu-ray releases at this time.
Friday the 13th, Part II Extras:
* Inside Crystal Lake Memories
* Horror Convention
* Lost Tales from Camp Blood - Part 2
* Slasher Films: Going for the Jugular
* Jason Trivia Track (text)
* Jason Forever - Used on 2004 release/Best Buy bonus disc
* Theatrical Trailer - Used on 2004 release
No word on extras for Friday the 13th, Part II 3-D right now.

Very fucking cool! Hoping to see the rest get the uncut treatment they deserve. So I think I'll wait till they're all available in 1 sweet Blu package and hold onto the DVD set a little longer

As much as I like this idea, it really pisses me off. Why couldn't they have waited to release the box set until now with these DVDs? FUCKERS!!! :mad:
I might get them, I might not. I'm really tired of this double-dipping crap they pull. :mad::mad::mad:

I'm in the middle of watching the original movies right now and I came across this thread. Funny, because I was watching III Sunday night thinking how cool it would be to watch it in 3-D (dated, but still).
I own the boxset as well and will be happy to pick these up next year.
And I'm psyched for the new movie next February.
What can I say? Jason's the man.

I was supposed to see 3 in 3D the night before Halloween, but the mirror box didn't work, and the theater had the wrong glasses. But Monster Squad with 125 other people well made up for it.

I saw the original uncut at Monstermania. There might be an extra minute of blood/gore all together. Not enough for me to want to buy it again. Its not like part 7. Where half the movie was trimmed to get the R rating.
I'd be surprised if part 2 gets released uncut. I am pretty sure that I read the cut footage got lost over the years. Hopefully not though.
Hopefully part 3 comes with the alternate ending.

From what I have been reading part 2 and 3 will not be presented in their uncut glory, but will contain new special features and the special surprise being that part 3 will be available in its original 3D glory.
I can't wait to purchase the "His Name Was Jason," DVD were all the Crystal Lake victims relive their memories of being in one of the most popular horror franchises ever produced and what it was like to be killed by the infamous Jason Voorhees.

I'm not sure if I'm repeating what Poguesfan said but...
Part II and III are going to be "unrated".
NathanRomano
11-26-2008, 01:16 PM
Poguesfan is saying that parts 2 and 3 will NOT be unrated. I really hope they are, though. They need to announce that officially soon, it's like just about 2 and a half months away

Poguesfan is saying that parts 2 and 3 will NOT be unrated.
When it comes to horror movies on DVD there's a difference between what "unrated" usually means and what "uncut" usually means. They don't mean the same thing. "Uncut" usually means that blood and gore that was cut to achieve a certain rating has been edited back into the movie. Whereas "unrated" usually means extended scenes or deleted scenes edited back into the movie or alternate ending/begining etc.. Nothing special. Useless, unnessasary crap. The fat.
My reliable source says II and III will be "unrated" but whether or not that means "uncut" still remains to be seen.

And i hate the tacky background. They had more sense even with the 80's posters to know that less is more.

I picked up all 3 movies along with HIS NAME WAS JASON. I'm watching it (and loving it right now):
* I'm psyched for the remake next week and I just found out that the writers of FREDDY vs. JASON are the ones that wrote the remake. I really enjoyed FvJ and one of my favorite things about it was the original and fitting plot.
* Judie Aronson (Samantha from IV) is STILL smokin' ass hot!
* The redhead from VIII has some big ol' boobs!
The hour and a half documentary is really well done and I think a must have for any Jason fan.
I'm gonna watch the 3 movies this weekend...

Well lord Raiden you just answered my question.
I couldn't wait to pick these up and I keep asking myself "I seen all these films and some of the females were damn HOT. I wonder how they look now compared to back in the day"?
Well you said it yourself. I will get this these over the weekend.

Just to warn you #1dvdfan, all of the Friday girls didn't age as gracefully as others. That being said Aronson and Jensen Daggett are fuckin' babes!

Picked up the Blu-Ray this weekend. I hadn't seen the film in a few years, so it was a lot of fun watching the original again (especially with its picture being about as good as it will ever look). Transfer wasn't as good as the Halloween (1978) Blu-Ray, but it was certainly the best I have ever seen it look. I am picking up His Name Was Jason next week, and I look forward to getting Part II and Part III when I have more cash.
