It contains the last great on film performance of Paul Newman, and it was one of the very best movies of 2002. Now Road to Perdition is getting a series of sequels. There’s no way this can work, is there?

What the fuck Hollywood?..

Why are you raping everything that I hold dear to my heart?

Road to Perdition was based on a graphic novel, which was definitely not a standalone anyway.

That's pretty out of the blue. It might be worth checking out though I wouldn't totally dismiss it. I mean I doubt they'd be able to get Mendes to do a sequel anyway. And the guy who wrote the article wants Hanks & Newman back wtf they died move on

I do like the titles to the sequels: Road to Purgatory and Road to Paradise.

I think the sequels would work better if Sam Mendes returned, which is highly unlikely. What's even worse is that Conrad Hall won't return because he passed away not long after the movie was released (got a posthumous Oscar for the movie too).

I don't think the sequels are a bad idea, but the movies won't be in the same vein as Road to Perdition.

If they get the necessary players back (dunno who is involved in the graphic novels) I am all for this.

I LOVED the first one and can't imagine a sequel coming anywhere near the level of the first one.

I would have loved to seen a sequel to this, but now it just seems to hard to pull off. First of all, would Mendes even come back to do a sequel? And even if he did, Conrad Hall obviously couldn't be his cinematographer now (I'm still saddened by his death). And because Tom Hank's character was killed off, there's one less reason to want to really see it.

I think I will see it if and when it actually happens, but I'm not holding out much hope of it being anything like the first one.

Max Allen Collins is directing the sequels, which is... interesting, to say the least. There's pretty much no way they will visually or tonally be anything like ROAD TO PERDITION, but the books they're based on are good, so I'll give the first one a shot. If it ever actually happens.

The first one was one of the best adaptations to be brought to the screen, depending on who's behind it I may see a sequel.
