Previously titled "Scared Straight," the prison thriller follows a troubled youth who's sent to prison off the "Scared Straight" crime-prevention program, which imprisons delinquent teens for a short period in the hopes of deterring them from a life of crime. While the teen is there, a riot breaks out and the prisoners take him hostage. A lifer, played by Cage, is forced to help the young man out.
Nic Cage i just dont know about but fuck it, its a new John Carpenter film. Im there.

should be funny
i love his late 70's and 80's flicks so i'll actually pay for a ticket at the cinema to support the guy. escape from mars stoned on the big screen was hilarious
which reminds me the assault on precinct 13 remake was freakin terrible!

It's hard to be excited about anything Carpenter related when the last 3 things he's worked on were complete crap. Ghosts of Mars and his two Masters of Horror shorts were terrible works that I hope to never see again. And I'm a guy who enjoyed Escape from LA (first Rated R movie I snuck into)... so it's not like I'm anti-Carpenter. I just don't think he is capable of making a good movie like his old ones.
Not to mention, the idea sounds really weak and uninspired.

So will Cage be once again donning his Con Air mullet?

Doesn't the Millennium films logo at the bottom almost guarantee this will stink?
I've been dying for some new Carpenter hell I own 14 of his films on DVD but this just doesn't sound very good. And Nic Cage is kinda one of my most hated actors right now.

I'm not a fan of Cage at all but Carpenter gives it some shed of hoping light....i'll await for a trailer.

Eh, not too pleased with Cage being in it but a new John Carpenter film? No way I can miss that.

So instead of being transferred to an adult prison, Nic Cage's character stays at the juvenile delinquent place? it doesn't add up. I'm not sure about this one. I would have preferred to see a sequel of They Live.

Ghosts of Mars wasn't that bad in my opinion. Just another violent, fun, load, and funny Carpenter directed flick. Better than most "horror" movies today.
Anyway, I'm eager to see John Carpenter take up the helm again as director.
Will he compose his own kick ass music again?

Sounds alright to me. And the plot sounds very Carpenter-ish.
And I liked "Ghosts Of Mars". It was just a goofy fun B movie. Great cast too. The "language" the GothGhosts used was pretty laughable though.

Carpenter hasn't done anything good since Big Trouble in Little China and with the addition of Nicholas Cage I'll skip this one.

John Carpenter is god. He hasn't made a bad film his entire career and I'm glad to see him take the helm of a feature film again. I'm skeptical about Cage after his recent streak of terrible movies, but, I remember a time when he did films like Con Air and Face/Off, when he was good. If he can tap into that, this could be great.
I will say this though, the movie would read better if Nicolas Cage was replaced with Kurt Russel.

Hell yeah he was. Everyone was at the top of their game in that movie. It's virtually a perfect action film. One of John Woo's best.

"Uncaged"... :snicker:
I'm interested- it's about damn time Carpenter got around to making something new again. Though I can't stand Cage anymore and Carpenter hasn't made anything I've loved in awhile, I'm still a Carpenter loyalist.

Sounds like a return to his "Assault on Precinct 13" days, which would be cool. Plus, I really enjoyed his Masters of Horror entries.

The tagline alone is worth admission.

Fucking awesome news. About time Carpenter does something like this again. Maybe he can give Cage a much needed comeback role since everything he's been in lately he's sucked in.
Can you imagine Cage playing a Snake Plisskin-esque character?
Should be fun to see:D
