I have the opportunity to buy a 42" Sony Bravia LCD TV for $600. It was bought last January for $1299 but has barely been used since he has been out of state for most of the year. My only hesitation is that it is a 720. I do not have a PS3 or a blue ray player and do not intend to get one in the very near future. My question is would you guys get this? How will it look when I eventully get a blue ray and PS3? Will I notce a diiference while wathcing sports between the 1080 and the 720? Will my regular dvds look better on a 1080 or will the 720 do? AHHHHH i cannot make upmy mind. He is giving me plenty of time to decide because he will not be moving til after the new year. Would I regret buying the 720? PLEASE HELP!!!

I would say do it for sure....especially if you aren't going to do a bluray player.

No you won't. IMO, TV's less than say 50" you DON'T need 1080p. Just remember that the bigger screen you go (perhaps with that projector down the line), the more resolution you need. Well the more resolution helps. You honestly won't notice the difference with a 42" with 720p at a distance of what, 6 or 7 feet from your couch?

Upconverting DVDs IMO is bullshit, but they'll probably look better than what you're doing on. Be sure to be using HDMI or component (not sure if you're doing that now).

No you won't regret it.

If I do get a Blu-ray or a PS3 would it be the bad decision to get the 720?

NO. It'll be a fine decision. Think I've already said that.
