I have to admit I like Nickelback and these lyrics are no worse than some of their earlier stuff (google the lyrics to Animals for an example). Besides, atrocious, non-sensical lyrics in rock music are hardly anything new - KISS have been masters of it for 35 years now!

I guess it's just a matter of taste - I love hard rock and Nickelback deliver.

It does make me smile, though, that they provoke such negative reactions in people. If I don't like something I ignore it, but that fact that they've got you hot under the collar Elgyn means that they've got you thinking about them. :D

Meh, I wouldn`t really say I`m "hot under the collar" about them.
I just hate them and wish they were dead.

What really boggles my mind is how popular they`ve become. I mean seriously come on. Nickelback is exactly like every crappy band you`ve seen playing at some bar. And somehow they struck it big.
And the fact that they`re successful will entice record execs to keep signing crappy generic play-it-safe rock bands.

Now, all that being said, I would like for all the members of Nickelback to be on a plane that runs out of fuel and crashes right into the center of a live volcano. The lead singer would be like, "Noooooo! Noooooo! We`re Nickelback!". And then while he`s screaming, lava flows into his mouth and he drowns in flaming hot lava while also being burned alive.:)

Nickelback are awesome to those of us who like good old fashioned rock n roll. The fact that they sell so many albums proves there are many of us that still do. Are they as good as Guns N Roses or Def Leppard, no... but they are pretty damn good. But if I were young I probably wouldnt like them either... its not the style anymore, no biggie. I hated The Beatles when I was younger cause I didnt think they rocked hard enough. Its all in what you like I guess, cause would not let a Tool CD enter my truck!!! They're just a formulaic, radio-friendly, fourth-tier post-grunge band. This stuff would have sounded tired in 1996, much less 2008. It's overproduced "VH1 rock." It's stomach-churning.

I think it's very telling that for the entirety of that commercial, the Nickleback music is in the background, barely audible over the guy's voice over, sound FX, etc.

The song they're playing never comes to the foreground either. It's not even good enough to play in a fucking credit card commercial.

Eh. I really liked this new cd. I'm not a huge fan of Nickelback at all. There are only aout 10 songs of there's I like, but on this cd I liked almost all the song.

It's nothing spectacular and the lyrics aren't great, but I thought it was one of there better albums.

I like pretty much all type of music Rap, Rock, Alternative, Comedy, some Hard Rock, R&B, Reggaeton a little. They're not my favorite rock band, but there music isn't that bad to me. I don't get why it bothers people that other people like this band. Hell there's tons of music that people love that I don't like at all, like ACDC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Van Halen, I don't like there music at all. But I don't give a fuck if people listen to them, just don't play them while I'm with them.

The only person I fucking hate that people listen to is Lil Wayne and I've already said this before, I believe only retarded teens listen to him. Not all teens because I'm also a teenager, but teens who know knothing about rap and like listening to a chipmunk. Same with Soulja boy (Agree with Le Big Mac)

Back about 8-9 years ago, Nickelback wasn't that bad. I was just into College so my judgement back then may not have been the best, but when I was seeing them at small club shows promoting "The State" I enjoyed them. Once "How you remind me" hit, they completely fell apart. They got a taste of heavy radio play and now they're just writing generic top 40 crap. As stated at the beginning of this thread, each album leads to them getting worse and worse.

Ya know what though? After hearing AC/DC's new single on the radio last night, I truly believe that they are the worst rock band of all-time. Now I know that Angus Young can play a good guitar solo, but I dare someone to tell me another redeeming quality about these fucks. You could literally, I mean fucking literally, interchange any one of their songs with another one of their songs. It's so goddamn ridiculous. And you know what makes them worse than Nickelback or Crinder? They've been around for 35 fucking years. You would think that "musicians" would experience a little bit of musical "growth", especially if you've been writing music for 35 years. But no. Their newest single sounds just like any one of their other singles. Which means it sucks.

Silverchair, another Australian rock band, released their first album when they were all fifteen years old. Listen to Silverchair's latest release, it's not anything fucking like Frogstomp. Even though I don't believe that Silverchair are incredible musicians, I do respect them for actually growing musically and not just trying to cash in on their past songs and successes.

Fuck AC/DC. This is off-topic I know. But I think that needed to be said.

Nickelback is the most generic bands out today- it's the reason they are so hugely popular. Most High School Kids like "normalcy" and hate most things that are "weird"- or they all pretend to so other people won't think they are "weird".

There are people who actually like Nickelback, I won't knock you for that, it's your own personal taste. But they are rather unremarkable to be perfect honest, and I hate unremarkable bands more than I hate sucky bands.

I did like RockStar the first time I heard it (people killed) and there was one other song, Figured You Out I think was the name of it, which was different than most of their other run of the mill generic songs, but otherwise than that I can't think of anything by them I like...

So I guess I kind of hate Nickelback for being everything wrong with mainstream popular music today-namely, genericness.

Your family like them too :mad:. I have a few cousines who don't like them at least. Their music with bands that sound like them are very boring radio rock music. Most people that I know that likes them are ones that like Posion, ACDC, and all of that crap in my opinion. My sister I shouldn't trust since she just likes whatever on the radio.
