I've listened to this one twice already. Unfortunately much like Disturbed's "Indestructible", it's somewhat disappointing. I like a good 90% of Mudvayne's music overall, and so after the especially good Lost and Found - I was hoping "The New Game" would be just as good, if not better.

Boy was I completely wrong. Out of 11 total songs, I really only liked about 7 of them.... The songs I couldn't fucking stand, had nothing to them... Just Chad screaming his vocals, with the song going absolutely nowhere. Mudvayne's gotta unique/distinct sound to them, the loud/quiet aspect, as well as that "Math Metal" sound too.... But songs like "A New Game", "The Hate In Me" and "We The People" are just fucking boring and pointlessly noisey with no structure (I didn't think).

The opener "Fish Out of Water" was bad, because Chad's singing way higher than he ever has, or ever should be on it. Just very annoying how it opens, and throughout the rest of the song, the vocals (which normally I think are fantastic) fucking ruin the song.

Anyway, the other 7 songs on this album are pretty damned good. Though I thought it was pretty lame for them to take "Dull Boy" from their last album "We the People" and place it on this one as well. Now I know that their last album wasn't really a proper/real studio album, but I don't care. It was a single from it, and played on radio, and now they place the same exact song on this new disc too. If they were going to do that, at the very LEAST, they should've tweaked the song a bit or something....

Highlight tracks for me would be:

-Cinderella Story
-Scarlett Letters
-Same Ol'

The two former songs display a semi-different sound for Mudvayne, in that it's more straight almost "classic rock" sounding in parts of the songs. When I read that there'd be those elements in this new album, I wasn't sure how it'd work out, but it sounds good I think.

Anyway, I just wish the other 4 songs didn't suck SO MUCH FUCKING ASS! Otherwise it'd be a damned fine album. I guess I was just disappointed that it wasn't one of those albums were you wouldn't haveta skip a song... Though because I'm more of a casual fan of Mudvayne's (in that I don't adore every single song they've ever made) I guess I'm not surprised either.

I'm still very reluctant to listen to this album. I fucking love L.D. 50 and The End of All Things to Come, but I absolutely hated Lost and Found. It was saddening to see a band who made one of my favorite albums of all time (TEoATtC) just put out a shitty radio rock record with only very minor math metal tendencies. I understand progress in a band and everything and most times I welcome it, but all except maybe two songs on Lost and Found didn't make my blood boil and they were just so-so tracks. I didn't particularly care for "Dull Boy" that much and the single I heard randomly on the radio the other day sounded a little more interesting than most of Lost and Found, but I don't know if it'd be worth it to even give this album a chance.

Tyler, it's possible you'd probably like this new one then. It sounds more like their older shit, but not nearly as good or smart IMO. There's a coupla songs that're radio friendly, but not like Lost & Found.

But I enjoyed Lost & Found, I liked how they could be more straight forward rock, more melodic.

I listened to it out of curiosity, and it's pretty miserable. I'm not a fan, although I like the first two (major label) albums. They've watered themselves down. The only song I dig off of The New Game is "Never Enough."
