Whoa, Whoa, WHOA!!
LIKE MIKE will NOT make $25 million in it's opening weekend. $10 million tops. Kids will want to see MEN IN BLACK II more than LIKE MIKE. And there's also THE POWERPUFF GIRLS as well. Big weekend for kids at the movies so LIKE MIKE won't fare that well.

Well, I saw MIB II on Saturday (a high-quality bootleg video I might add), and one thing that I noticed is that the movie is quite short. The reason being: Probably to have several more viewings than normal which of course means more box office.

I was a bit puzzled at the high predictions for HEY ARNOLD! THE MOVIE's second weekend. It only opened with $6 million, and with the slew of kids' movies opening, it'll be gone like a guy who finds himself watching DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD.

I think "Like Mike" might just sneak up on you all and do pretty good business. It has several points of major appeal, especially the basketball angle with dozens of NBA stars making cameo appearances.
Not that I support the film or anything. It does look pathetic.

Well, what's the problem with someone supporting it! i think the people are not expecting much from it because of the very hot competition.

I refuse to believe that. Ebert even gave it ***/**** but I still think it will suck.

Uh, no, I'm not supporting "Like Mike" because it looks lame and contrived. However, I see it's getting far better reviews than "Men in Black II". Who knows?
I'm not sure if this is just me, but after reading Joblo's review I now have a perverse desire to see the "Powerpuff Girls" movie. It just sounds like it might be really funny.

Nope, you aren't the only one. I went from not wanting to see it to wanting to see it. But I would still feel really uncomfortable saying "One for Powerpuff Girls please." http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

My girlfriend's coming up for the weekend, and she's psyched to see THE POWERPUFF GIRLS. I'm interested, too, after seeing the title being described as "kickass."
Now if only I can explain to my g/f that REIGN OF FIRE wouldn't have the same effect if the dragons were cute and cuddly...

I went up to the box office and said one for Powerpuff Girls. I was the only person who was 19 years old. Everyone else was a kid under 13, and had a parent with them.
this movie sucked. 4/10
