I don't know if anybody here cares about this but it's a fourm to express opinion and that's exactly what I'm going to do.

Anybody remember growing up and having a cool band come to your town but you couldn't go see them becuse you couldn't get in the venue if you were under 21? Or maybe your that person now. The major reason for these limits is alcohol being served in the club. Ok, well all know there are a lot of teenagers who are always going to try and be sneaky to get the booze, but the way I see it, it seems like most club owners have the mentality that ALL persons under 21 only have one goal when their in the venue, and that's just to drink. Forget the fact that there's a rockin' band tearing it up on stage, nope, all the kids want to do is get wasted. Anyone see a problem here? First of all, I do understand that club owners are worried about having anything bad happen at their place, and the way people are with lawsuits these days, anything could get you shut down, but if you run the place like you should and check ID's you wouldn't have to worry right?

In my hometown, we have a club, of course it's a 21+ club. Their policy is, younger audiances may attend shows when appropiate, and here's the kicker, with permission from management ONLY. Now getting in touch with management means at least 15 phone calls a week before the show, sending an e-mail or two because half of the calls go unanswered, and if need be, actually going to the place to see if the owners there. If you get past all that, you still have to go through intense questioning so they can make sure that your "mature" enough to enter the club. People! Having to politc your way to see a fucking concert is absoutle bullshit. It pisses me off to no end that people like that are denying young music fans the right to see live shows. Not to mention that this is the ONLY club in the sorry town I live in.

A band like Fugazi knew that music is something special, to EVERYBODY and made damn sure all their shows were all ages. That's the main thing that gets me with all this. Just because a few assholes ruin it by sneaking into venues to drink, it dosen't mean there arnt younger fans who just want to check out the band and just fucking enjoy the show.

Age limits? LOL. I thought you were going to talk about clubs where no one over 30 is allowed.

I always thought these age restrictions had to do more with the bars liquor license and city ordinances than with band's fans.

My bad, kinda in a hurry when I scribbled this little diatribe.

That's true for a lot of places but not for that club I mentioned in my town. Here people under 21 are allowed to go in places that serve liquor. The management at that club are just nazi's.
