I Thought These Soft Cloths Are Not Supposed To Scratch CD's/DVD's

I have one of those micro-fiber cloths they say don't scratch CD's or DVD's when cleaning them - but the second I went to clean a CD, it literally scratched the CD in the direction that I was cleaning some finger prints and smudges on it. I thought these micro-fiber cloths are designed not to damage media and electronics. I was wrong. Any advice on what I should be using?
