Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have both confirmed that they will be writing and recording a new album for 2009. Produced by Stanley, they have stated that the album will sound like it was recorded in the 70's and be very back to basics for KISS. It will not reflect the 80's and 90's KISS.

Buwwhahahhaahahahahah ok fine whatever. band sucks balls.

They had some decent hits in the 70's. The 80's sucked for them and the 90's brought more decent songs. Otherwise nothing great or memorable.

They actually had a few hits in the 80's, so you would be wrong there. Creatures of The Night (1982) is also one of the best KISS albums ever. KISS is about energy and just basic rock. Considering that most new rock bands totally fucking suck, a new KISS album would be a welcome change among the new albums by AC/DC, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, etc.

Gene Simmons is a total whore.

And your point is? Gene never claimed otherwise.

New album? Hm.

New I guess means, "the exact same thing we did in the 70s and 80s, now, in the new millenium".

Now, if KISS comes out and does a fucking badass new record with completely new songstyles, hey, I can fucking dig that. But I just have the feeling they won't. It'll be just like the 70s. Coke, Crown Royale, hookers. Except now it's coke, Crown Royale, hookers, Ben-Gay. What sucked in the 70s, oddly enough, will still suck in the 00s.

I agree with you about newer bands sucking and welcoming older bands to release new material, but those older bands releasing newer material have been sucking total ass. That new AC/DC album is easily the worst I've heard all year. I'm willing to give the KISS album a shot, but I'm not holding out hope.

I'm a huge KISS fan, but I'm kind of 50-50 on the thought of a new album. The last time they did this ten years ago, with Psycho Circus, it was a very hit and miss affair. Having said that, and I say this as a fan, many of their albums are slightly hit and miss, but when they get it right, they fucking rock.

As for KISS in the eighties, while they didn't have the popularity and success that they had in the 70s, and then again when they put the makeup back on in the mid-90s, they were still pretty good years for them. Lick It Up, Asylum and Hot In The Shade were all pretty good albums (we can forget about Crazy Nights, which even Paul Stanley isn't that keen on these days), and compared to a lot of the rock bands of the time they still did pretty big business.

Re the new AC/DC album, it is what it is - another colection of three chord bar room boogie. I personally love it, but if people thought they were getting anything different to every other AC/DC album then they'd have been sorely disappointed. (And if you do like the 'DC, check out new Australian band Airborne who are very similar and rock just as hard!)

Sounds boring. KISS hasn't been good since their last album before going all retro: 1992's Revenge, which has some killer tracks. "Unholy" was awesome, pure metal song. Like Judas Priest at the time, they just started getting heavier and heavier. Too bad they didn't stay in that direction.

For the record, I really enjoy 80s KISS.

I agree entirely on the new AC/DC album. It may not be on the same level as their classic albums, but I do not see how an AC/DC fan could not like it. To me they are a band where you know what you are going to get when they release an album.

Anyone Knows what will be the New Kiss Lineup?

Anyone Knows what will be the New Kiss Lineup?

Gene and Paul, with Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. Thayer has been wearing Ace's makeup since 2002, and had pretty much been Gene's bitch since the early 90's. I'm not kidding, he'd even make him his coffee.

Singer played for KISS after Eric Carr died, starting with the aforementioned 'Revenge" album. He was replaced by Peter Criss for the reunion of '96, then returned upon Criss' departure in 2001. He kept on the Cat gimmick, so I don't even know how many people at shows even knew it wasn't Peter Criss. Criss came back in 2003, but then left again when his contract wasn't renewed.

Yup, Criss and Ace were contracted help. No matter, as I personally find KISS to be one of the most overrated acts in history. They're like the Hulk Hogan of the music industry.

3 Artists who needs to just fucking quit and go away.

1. Billy Joel - No album for 20 years and still touring. Just fucking stop and make a career of being a crash test dummy because you're more successful at doing that

2. Elton John - Seriously? Who the fuck still cares?

3. KISS - Fuck it.

Is this newsworthy? It's been thirty years since anyone paid attention to how much they sucked.

Hmm, someone's rolling with the shoutout in Role Models, aren't they? I knew as soon as Entertainment Weekly pointed out the reference a new album couldn't be far behind. Haven't really heard that much of them, but Gene Simmons was on the Celeb Apprentice and Ugly Betty and he seemed a little scary.

Amen! I agree on Creatures of the Night. Never count the boys out. I was shocked at how good Revenge was after following the tepid Hot in the Shade album. If this new one is anything like Revenge, I cant wait. I thought Lick It Up was pretty decent too. The Vinnie Vincent era.:p

Hmm. While i'm a huge kiss fan, i don't know if this is a good idea. I mean they are essentially a tribute band to their former sleves, and while i think it would be interesing to hear new kiss stuff, i also think it's good to leave what is as what is.

Agreed.

If Gene and Paul are intending to keep things together, they should have ditched the makeup after Ace and Peter left again or gave Tommy and Eric their own persona's like Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent had.
