Lionsgate has announced DVD ($19.98) and Blu-ray ($29.98) releases of Repo! The Genetic Opera which stars Alex Vega, Anthony Stewart Head, Sarah Brightman, and Paris Hilton. Each will be available to own from the 20th January. According to Fangoria, DVD extras will include a commentary by director Darren Lynn Bousman and actors Bill Moseley, Alexa Vega and Ogre, a second commentary by director Lynn Bousman, creators Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich and music producer Joseph Bishara, 2 featurettes (From Stage to Screen, Legal Assassin — A Repo Man), and the films theatrical trailer.
The Blu-ray will include all of the above features, plus select scene audio commentary by Bousman and actress Paris Hilton, 2 additional featurettes (Zydrate Anatomy—Amber Sweet: Addicted to the Knife, Chase the Morning—Blind Mag: The Voice of GeneCo), deleted scenes, and video sing-alongs.
I thought this looked really great and very interesting. Unfortunately it wasn't released in my city. I will definetly be picking this up.

Boussman graduated from the same college i graduated from (he graduated years before me though)
some of my teachers said he was a bit of an ass hole!
BUT, the movie looked decent, i will be checking it out on DVD... one of my friends has seen the flick twice already, she is fucking obsessed with it!
If the songs are good, then it could be good, if the songs are crap, then the movie will fail (to me at least)

I missed this in theaters as it was playing in only 1 that was far away from me. This is a must buy for me as I thought what Darren did to SAW II, III & IV was awesome.
I was hopeing to god we get to see the short 10 min film Darren made with Shawnee Smith to get this film made. He said it was but then he found out it is license problems so now we wont see it. Damn Im such a huge fan of Shawnee and was hopeing I finally see it. That alone would of made me spend 40 bucks for the BD.:mad::mad:

you went to Full Sail?
im going there now.
most of the teachers have mixed opinions on him, but even the good ones arent that good. its kinda sad though that this guy is our greatest claim to fame.
anyway he visted the college and i saw the movie, and i cant say awesome things about it. its alright, but i definitely wouldnt say you need to go out and buy it. id rent it first, its basically an attempt at a darker Rocky Horror Picture Show, with Paris Hilton in the middle.

ha ya man, i went to Full Sail, ask any of the film teachers, the ones that do the 35 mm projects (your final project i believe) ask them about The Boner Movie, cuz i wrote that!
i went right before they switched it over to the bachelors degree, so i did the associates degree, and then took the completion degree to get my bachelors, you all have just the bachelors now!

Saw the film at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, back in October, and I guess I respect the film for what it is. Nothing mind-blowing but the sold-out audience really dug it. What puzzles me is Lionsgate's decision to greenlight this project with a $8 million dollar budget and essentially ignore it. Barely any distribution at all which is summed up in it's $142,000 dollar box-office gross. It's playing at ELEVEN theatres in North America.
I'm not saying opening this on 3,000 screens would have been a wise choice either, but give the film a modest opening and let it find an audience.

I have ssen this movie every time it has played here in Chicago, which after yesterday is 5 showings. This film is original in almost every way. The songs are catchy, the scenery is great, and the acting is solid. The worst part of the film is the editing. According to Darren Bousman, the original cut of the film was about 3 hours long and didn't introduce Shiloh until about 40 minutes in, and that couldn't happen since she is the main character. There are many continuity mistakes throughout because of this. Still it is one of my favorite films I have seen this year. Not the best film, but one of my favorites.

It's not the first time a studio has spent money on a film only to botch it come release day. Hatchet got similar treatment.

Hatchet was poop :P
Midnight Meat Train was something that had planned wide spread release but Lionsgate buried it... :P I'm looking forward to getting Repo on Blu though. I have a feeling that we're going to see more films get this treatment from lionsgate as time progresses... :(
