Godfather Part II is the biggest one i can think of. which is odd too, because the first one is in my top 20.

Just curious...I mean Godfather II is still a bit beyond me (seen it a few times, but it's a dense and full film) and part III I've seen once but the big collection is a prize in my dvds....great extras and stuff.

I'm not going to knock you for this...but how the hell did you ever manage to miss these? Some I can understand (you never get around to it, etc...) but others like the Bond movies (Connery/Moore) usually play on tv a heck of a lot or at least they did. It's amazing that you've missed them.

It also reveals that you just landed on our planet recently. All hail our new leaders. ;)

A friend of mine just saw Evil Dead II and Adaptation for the first time last month...and he's a huge movie freak. Loves Charlie Caufman and Sam Raimi, just never got around to watching them...that blows my mind cause Evil Dead II (the whole trilogy really) were some of my favorites even before I was a HUGE movie freak back when I just liked movies.

More for me:
Philidephia Story-I dunno why, I love romantic comedies (and the classics are usually great like His Girl Friday) and I love Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart.
Wedding Crashers/Talledega Nights/Step Brothers/ect-I just didn't think the traliers looks funny.
The Omen-no intrest in this...dunno why

If the only good thing about that movie was the twist, then people wouldn't talk about it as much as they do.

See it.

i basically havent seen any "classic" made before like 1975, and honestly i have no interest in watching dated crap. im not a film student, so please dont tell me how much im missing out and much better story telling was back then, blah blahblah, etc. etc. etc.

You're cheating yourself sir; the wealth of awesome movies prior to 75 is pretty large.

i just cant sit and watch em, give me an option between an old "classic" and a movie that was crap but made in 06, and my ADD will force me to take the newer one

I'm tempted to lock you up in a vault with a tv and a bunch of DVDs.

If you find the time, I'd work on that list if I were you.

Oh I need too. I've been dying to see Apocalypse Now and The Deer Hunter for a while (2 films on the list). Hopefully during Christmas Vacation I'll get a lot of these films off the list. Hell until only recently (about a week and a half ago) I saw The Shawshank Redemption, which is a fantastic film.

Star Wars films. All six of them. I've tried, but I just can't sit through them for more than a few mins.

Godfather II. I watched the first one and didn't like it very much, so never really wanted to watch part 2.

Schindlers List. I've got it but I haven't seen it. I need to.

The Deer Hunter, Vertigo, Psycho, 2001: A Space Odessy, It's A Wonderful Life.

There are lots of classics that I haven't gotten around to seeing. I've only seen two Hitchcock flicks (Rear Window and Psycho) and I feel like I'm committing cinematic heresy

In terms of recent films I still haven't seen Million Dollar Baby or Letters from Iwo Jima. I never fully forgave Eastwood for Blood Work... but I think it's time to drop that grudge.

oh and... DAWN OF THE DEAD. Around Halloween I watched both Night of the Living Dead and the remake of Dawn of the Dead for the first time, but I still haven't seen the original classic zombie flick.

Until Recently my biggest one was Braveheart but I finally sat down and watched it. Great fucking movie I can't believe I waited so long to see it.

Even if you know the twist to Fight Club, you should still see it because the direction by David Fincher is amazing.

I never got around to finishing Hidden Fortress and then moved away from the library that had it...the dvd is so freaking expensive...

And speaking of Kurosawa, I just got around to seeing Sanjuro the other day and I've been a fan of Yojimbo for months since I bought and watched it.

2 more I own but have yet to watch are "Dark City" (not the new director's cut, the snapper case) and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". I tried on Jesse James but it's a really slow and pretty film and I feel asleep just after the opening train robbery which was suprisingly boring despite the way it looked.

Never seen Blood Simple either and I'm a huge Coen fan.

Why not? It's a great film. Almost everyone I know who has seen Forrest Gump loves it. It's just a straight up great story. It manages to be deep and heartfelt without being overly sentimental. All the performances are top-notch. The attention to detail by Zemeckis is outstanding. The characters are interesting and well developed. DANG MAN. You goootttaaa see Forrest Gump!

EDIT: The Soundtrack rules too!

I used to love Forrest Gump...but I've got no interest in seeing it again and think it's pretty over rated now...not to mention my grudge aganist it when I found out it beat out Pulp Fiction...I already thought little of it, but after that my indifference only grew...

It's shocking to see that some people who come to this site haven't seen one or all of the Godfather films or Goodfellas, and Raging Bull to boot. It's like an unwritten rule that you have to have seen the classic Pacino and Deniro films lol. You guys gotta get on the ball!

I've stuck to watching the classics in recent years so my list of "must see" movies has been limited to mostly current films. Which I neglect to see on purpose most of the time because a lot of the shit they put out now is just that.

still need to see...

the second half of Two Towers and all of Return on the King (not exactly rushing for those)
The Passion of the Christ
most of the recent Pixar films with the exception of Wall-E
I Am Legend
Hancock
A Beautiful Mind
I, Robot

that's all I can think of off the top of my head, the rest are pretty much movies with lot of explosions

I havent seen Akira Kurasawa's Rashomon or Seven samurai.

That segment in Dreams with Martin Scorsese as Vincent van gogh is kind of neat to watch.
