So anybody else a fan of Suicidal Tendencies? I mainly ask because I got the chance to see them last week in Philadelphia and it reminded me how kickass they were. I was more a fan of their first couple of thrash punk albums. I consider their self titled debut a masterpiece though i realize their fanbase expanded greatly when they turned more toward a metal style. I still really enjoyed How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today? I never bothered looking into their 90's resume much because I bought the Suicidal for Life album it was a bunch of dumbed down shit. Like they tried too hard to sound badass. Still I have a fondness for them. Anyone else? Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I saw them play in a bar in Honolulu about 5 years ago. Awesome show...it was one song after another, non-stop. I freaked when they played Join The Army (especially since I was in the Army at that time).

SUICIDAL! Such a killer band. Cyco Mike's the man. He could write a song about a deadly serious subject yet add a bunch of humor to it. And the music is total badass hardcore/thrash. I admit I haven't gotten to much of their stuff after Lights, Camera, Revolution but that record and the ones that came before are classics. Favorite is defanitly How Will I Laugh Tomorrow

Yeah Institutionalized is a true original. Might be the song they are most associated with. I named the thread after it because I knew any ST fan would instantly knew what the topic was going to be about. For anyone interested here is the video for the song. Mike looks YOUNG AS FUCK!:

Bit of trivia, at 35 seconds in the Institutionalized video the dude pushing Mike is Tom Araya from Slayer.

I am a pretty big ST fan. I even had the cool hat they had out in the late 80's. I didnt like the first album that much because it sounds pretty bad. I like the Still Cyco versions of the old songs much better. Join the Army as the first cassette I got by them. Lights Camera is my fave followed by How Can I Laugh Tommorrow. I didnt like anything Art of Rebellion or after to much.

10 Favorite songs:

Trip at the Brain
You Cant Bring Me Down
Send Me Your Money
The Feelings Back
War Inside My Head
Suicides an Alternative
Suicidal Failure
Gotta Kill Capt. Stupid
Join the Army (old version-not the new rappy version)
Go'n Breakdown

I saw they were playing in Philly. But besides Mike I dont know who is in the band anymore or what they soundlike.
They had a cool video for Waking the Dead.

ST! Love these guys!

Saw them live four times...the sickest show being at the Avalon in Boston with Infectious Grooves opening.

Self Titled, How Will I Laugh, and Lights, Camera...Revolution are true classic albums.

Those ain't bad choices. The Feelings Back is an interesting pick. Doesn't get much recognition but I really like it. Same goes for The Miracle and especially Sorry, also off of How Will I Laugh Tomorrow?

I personally prefer the original recordings to the Still Cyco sessions because they sound much more raw and urgent. After ten years Mike had matured and the band had a more refined sound. While it still sounds good it doesn't have that feeling of paranoia to it.

Yeah, the lineup is something that bothered me when seeing them live. There hasn't been much consistency over the years. I think they've had over two dozen members since they formed in the early 80's. I had never seen three of these guys before. I think they came after the 90's. The drummer was brand new and I think had just joined them for the tour. Rocky George, RJ Herrera, Louiche Mayorga, and Rob Trujillo are all long gone, Mike Clark is still in the band though. He joined on rythm guitar back when How Will I Laugh Tomorrow came out. Unfortunately him and Muir looked so much older that I barely recognized them when they came out.

They had a great set list though. Every song was a favorite of mine so they sure knew how to pick them. They opened with You Can't Bring Me Down and finished off their encore with Pledge Your Allegiance and even invited everyone on stage to chant "SUICIDAL!" over and over again. War Inside My Head, Subliminal, Send Me Your Money, I Shot Reagan, I Saw Your Mommy, Cyco Vision, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow, We Are Family, Fascist Pig, and Possessed to Skate also come to mind. They played a new song off of the upcoming album they're working on which didn't sound half bad. Unfortunately they didn't play Institutionalized which I thought was damn near impossible. Not a bad way to waste $20 though.

I always thought Rocky George was a very good guitar player. He never got much lime light. Rob Trujillo is one of the best bass players around. I never saw ST live, but I saw him play with Ozzy a few times and he really kicked ass. To bad his playing is buried under the crappy production on the new Metallica CD.

Those are all good songs Suicidal decided to play at the show. War Inside My Head has such good guitar riffs.

I was at a dive bar Fri. night and someone played "I Saw Your Mommy" on the "jukebox". My drunk wife sung along word for word. :)
