Yeah, I don't see how anyone could have expected much better than $19 million opening day. I still see a 5-day total of $90-95 million. Not too shabby.

Over at Lee's Movie Info, on each movie's earning charts, they have the Wednesday estimates of the three new releases listed as:

"MIIB": 19m
"Like Mike": 4.1m
"Powerpuff Girls": 1.5m (ouch)

Actually, those are my sister's predictions, but since she doesn't care about movies, she'll just give the DVD to me. It would be so nice if I won, I came in 4th place last week with Mr. Deeds...So close, but yet so far...

Well Horror Whore, I hope you get that DVD. I have been doing really shitty at predicting the Box Office at leesmovieinfo.com lately...

2. MR. DEEDS - 3.58 MILLION
3. MINORITY REPORT - 3.31 MILLION
4. LIKE MIKE - 3.08 MILLION
5. LILO & STITCH - 2.94 MILLION
6. BOURNE IDENTITY - 2.15 MILLION

Wow! I was afraid that my $40 mil Wed-Thurs prediction for MIB2 would be way off, but it wasn't that off afterall (I predicted over at boxofficemojo.com). MIB2 still made over $36 mil. Last year's movies dropped off over 40% from their Wednesday gross. I guess it helped that yesterday was Independence Day.

Go MIB2! I saw MIB2 yesterday and I thought it was pretty damn good. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

And Minority Report is holding out pretty nicely. Very good.

Oh thats fine, I was at MIIB and would not have been able to post them 'til now. Anyways, I really don't think MIIB deserves those numbers. It's not a very good movie, a little better than the first (which I hated) but still not very good. I laughed twice and was bored throughout most of the film. I'd giove it a 5/10...

I didn't like the first one very much but I figured since all of the people that did like the first aren't liking the second then I might like the second. The dog singing actually looks really funny. I wouldn't see it in the theater but I might check it out on video.

The dog singing was funny, basically everything you see in the preview was everything that was funny... That and the "Ballchineons" http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif (You'll get it when you see it)... Anywho, my Friday predictions are 7.944% off, I won't win... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

God! It looks like Minority Report is going to be hard-pressed to make $150 million (I seriously doubt it will be able to do it). I'm also surprised that Men in Black 2 only made as much as Scooby Doo did. It will probably hit the $200 million mark, but I doubt that it will make as much as the first Men in Black (it might, but it's doubtful).

Damn, I didn't win over at Lee's Movie Info... Hopefully next week... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Anyway, you can tell MIIB's word of mouth isn't too good... Almost everyone I've talked to lately says they're waiting for video because everyone they know who has seen it says it's just so-so...
