You have to hand it to him: Blagojevich has been a shrewd and clever cat ever since this story came out. It was a well calculated move. Roland Burris, the guy he appointed, is the former Attorney General who's been unsuccessful in a string of runs for statewide offices for many years now. Despite this, he's well-respected within the state and has a good reputation. I guess he sees this as his chance, so he seems willing to go along with it.
I hate to say it, but the only thing worse than having a Senator tainted by Blagojevich's reputation is to have only one man representing your state in the Senate. They can always vote him out in 2010.
