John Travolta's 16-year-old son has died, a rep from the Rand Memorial Hospital in The Bahamas confirms to TMZ.com.
Jett was vacationing with Travolta and wife Kelly Preston in the Caribbean. (Travolta and Preston are also parents to Ella, 8.)
No cause of death has been released, TMZ says.
It's been reported that Jett suffered from autism, which Travolta has denied -- instead saying Jett is inflicted with Kawasaki Syndrome (the six-year-old son of Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell has the same diagnosis), which can lead to heart disease.
Details are still unfolding on this terrible tragedy. We should know more in the coming days...

I'm sure I'll incur the wrath of at least one schmoe on here by asking this, but would the family's beliefs in scientology possibly have a hand in this? I know they find certain medications forbidden but I'm wondering if their religion might have made their son not get all the medical help he needed for his condition.
I'm not denying how terrible the situation is but I am curious about it.

You're not alone, I was gonna say something along these lines as well. In fact, I'm almost certain that might be the reason why.
Still...this is really fucked up. Very sad.

Celebrity or no celebrity...I have an overwhelming sympathy for anybody that loses a child of any age.

Once again life proves itself to be an exercise in pain and suffering from which there is no escape, not even with fame and fortune.

It sucks for Travolta because he must be feeling bad for not treating his kid properly. Go Scientology.
A tragic thing though.

Sad news :(
But my understanding was that Scientology doesn't allow the use of Psychotropics which will alter the mental state or affect the 'brain' which is probably why Travolta denied it was Autism and said it was the other disease to the press as it allows him a little space to practice his faith and treat his son.... if he lied so that he could treat his son to the parameters of his faith good on him.
If However he allowed his faith to impact and with hold treatment? For shame!

No family should have to endure such a horrible tragedy. Parents should not have to bury their child or children, especially not a child as incredibly young as Jett Travolta. My heart goes out to the entire Travolta family during this tragic time. :(

Let's not to any conclusions just yet. We don't know what is behind this right now. There is going to be an autopsy on Monday so maybe then we'll know more. But let's not jump to those conclusions until there is evidence to do so.
