Well, the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street is coming, there's really no way around it. And since Robert Englund is definetly out, who is your choice to step in as the new Freddy?

What I don't get is, they're saying Mr.Englund is too old, while one of the potential choices (Billy Bob Thornton) is only 8 years younger. So what are they gunna do, recast him again after a sequel or too.

They need to get someone younger or there's really no point in not going with Englund, cause you're gunna want someone who's gunna stick around and not not just collect a paycheck for the remake and then bail shortly after. That's another thing about Englund which makes him so great, he loves the character/series, we need someone with the same passion.

In all honesty, platinum dunes does not care. They don't care about the movies, they do not care about the original series that they remake and in some cases (Like this one and Friday the 13) abruptly end, and they do not care about the actors or directors involved in the original films. Which is exactly why pd does not bother contacting Wes Craven nor Robert Englund in regards to remaking their movie. Simply put, the folks down at platinum dunes are greedy, money-hungry, selfish bastards.

Freddy is too special to me as a character. I cannot and will not except anyone else in the role. Could someone do it well? Yes, most likely, but Robert Englund IS and forever will be The Bastard Son of 100 Maniacs.

I am going to try to send platinum dunes a scathing letter from "An eternal fan of the true Freddy Krueger" pretty much scolding them for remaking ANOES and F13 in the first place, and then trying to convince them to try and get Robert Englund back, or all of us fans will boycott the motherf*cker. I doubt that it will work (after all, it is platinum dunes I speak of), but it will feel gosh-darned good. :D

I love the Nightmare flicks but I'm actually open to the idea of someone else playing Freddy. I mean like it or not it's going to happen. So might as well get use to the idea.

And I like the idea of Robert Knepper. He seems like a good choice.

He'll obviously speak, I just really hope they don't go overboard with it. They need to make him darker and more disturbed like in the original. With Platinum Dunes involved I do have faith they will do just that, but I doubt it will be as effective...

I actually liked the idea of Billy Bob taking the role but I doubt that would ever happen. It will probably be an unknown or some shitty d-list celeb. Or worst case scenario they will try to get some new younger fans into the seats and cast ludacris or some other mtv rapper just because tweens know his name and next thing you know freddy becomes a burnt mass murdering rapper thug.

I vote Crispin Glover though just because he would be maniacal enough to pull it off.
