I am kind of obsessed with Mendes' films right now. Ever since seeing Revolutionary Road I have only watched his films and am just amazed at how brillant they are.

Personally, I think Road to Perdition is a masterpiece. I didnt fully appreciate it when it first came out in 2002 but after rewatching it this week I am giving it a 10/10. The cinematography is breathtaking. Every shot is picture perfect.

Its weird seeing Daniel Craig in it cause I just know him as Bond now. He did a terrific job at playing the spoiled scumbag son of Paul Newman. And speaking of Newman, man what a performance from him too (RIP).

And lets not forget Jude Law. Creepy as fuck in this film.

I welcome your thoughts on this movie...

I haven't seen it, but I've been wanting to for a while. I'll have to check it out this week.

I really enjoyed it, in fact I'd go as far as to say it's one of the best gangster movies of this century. Mendes does a great job of showing the father-son relationship throughout the most difficult of times, helped of course by the fantastic performances given by Hanks and Tyler Hoechlin playing his son. I also have to mention Paul Newman, who is amazing in his role as the relentless crime boss. The cinematography is practically flawless, making this one of the classiest and most beautiful films I've ever seen. Road to Perdition is an outstanding and heartbreaking masterpiece, and I believe it to be one of the greatest achievements of film-making this decade.

This film really shows that Tom Hanks is a real versatile actor. I was always used to seeing him play comedy roles and to see him play a gangster was really mindblowing. Overall, i really liked this film. Besides tom Hanks performance, the art direction and cinematography are amazing. It's like looking at a painting.

Road to Perdition, as said by most above, is pure awomeness. It's actually my favorite Sam Mendes film. It was great seeing Daniel Craig playing a down right, slimy coward for once.

I hope the sequels that, Max Allan Collins has been talking about, actually come to fruition as it sounds like Collins knows what he's doing.

Great flick...probably my second favorite Mendes film after Revolutionary Road...Paul Newman and Tom Hanks give some of the best performances of their careers and I really enjoy Dillian Baker's role...

The kid, whoever he is, did a wonderful job as well and of course, the film looks AWESOME...just great direction/photography...

I had forgotten Daniel Craig was in it...man, he was good...

This film always reminds me a bit of "Eastern Promises"...something about the worthless son of a crime boss I guess...anyway, I need to buy this one ASAP and give it another watch some time.

This movie is great, it doesn't have a single bad performance in it. Daniel Craig, Jude Law, Paul Newman, Tom Hanks and even Stanley Tucci in his minor role put in ace performances. A common criticism for the movie is that the characters, namely Michael Snr seem distant. I honestly don't see that critisicm but even if it is "true" I'd say there's a good chance it was on purpose, because we all know the main theme in the movie. The only disapointment/criticism I have for the movie is the length, at 110 minutes it manages to fit in the plot fine. It was only when I checked the deleted scenes did I realise that there was no good reason for them to be cut, but I know they would have been cut for running time. Every scene I watched out of the deleted ones were great and I felt they would have added to the film rather than taking away. My favourite deleted scene was the one with Anthony LaPaglia playing Al Capone. I equate Anthony LaPaglia's scene similar to William hurt in A History of Violence. It was one scene and it was only a couple of minutes long but it was great. It was an ensemble scene with Lapaglia, Newman, Law, Craig and Tucci all in the same room. (maybe Law wasn't there I can't quite remember) It was great seeing the strong people of the film still having someone else to fear. Really marvelous stuff. I hope there is a director's cut one day.

I love this movie. This was one of Tom Hanks' and Paul Newmans best performances. I love seeing Daniel Craig as pretty much the exact opposite of his Bond role. Like overwatch there are deleted scenes that should not have been deleted. 9/10

I think it's Mendes's second best after American Beauty. A truly great movie with every aspect of filmmaking. Directing, writing, acting, cinematography, score, it's all outstanding. A beautiful movie.

Best film of 2002 too if you ask me.

I just watched this last night... excellent film. Sam Mendes' cinematography is fantastic. I pretty much agree with everything said above. I'm somewhere between an 8.5 and 9 /10 for now.

Road to Perdition is one of my favorite Tom Hank's films. Great acting and directing all around in this one, and the cinematography and setting is gorgeous.

It was honestly kind of a letdown for me.

Performances were top notch, but I saw the ending coming from a mile away. It ended without any real closure for me and just left me wanting too much more out of it.

I'd give it a 6 or a 7 out of 10.
