Case in point...In Bruges. Holy shit was this movie amazing! The dialog was so good, Collin Farrell, I didnt hate him in this movie! His performance was really good!
Also, I loved how this movie had no cliches whatsoever, I didnt know what was going to happen next! And it was unexpectedly gory and bloody! And the comedy was intelligent...what a breath of fresh air.
It was a bit influenced by Tarantino...but thats a good thing in my book. Other then that, it was a completely original movie. Collin Farrell is back on my good book. Now hows about Nicolas CAge pulling something like this?
What other actors that you know have redeemed themselves?

Gwyneth Paltrow, I absolutely hated Shakespeare in Love, and directed most of my hate directly at her. It was a god awful film. Now, she doesn't bother me so much. I just adored the Talented Mr. Ripley and she redeemed herself there.

I used to hate Chris Evans with a passion. He always came off to me as one of those dudes you just want to punch in the face.... over and over again. I was convinced he was the next Paul Walker, just a face with no real talent. But Evans' character in this film as Mace, one of the few voices of reason on the Icarus II vessel, really showed me that he's a pretty good actor with a lot of potential, given the right role.

i loved mickey's earlier movies angel heart and the pope of greenwhich village but man did he disapear up his own arse after that.it all started to go wrong after the movie a prayer for the dying and continued with awful movie choice after choice, his decision to become a professional boxer was also a bad one he was a worse fighter than actor during that period.
he did slightly redeam himself with sin city and man on fire but with the wrestler he made a complete turnaround, a superb performance in a superb film.

Oh yeah, The Wrestler is defenetly a comeback for Mickey Rourke. He got to me with that role. I mean he really did get to me. That scene where he is talking with his daughter on Coney Island, goddamn it if that didnt feel sincere. Rourke freaking lived that character.....he lived it! I truly do hope he wins the oscar for that performance, if not, Ill be entirely convinced the Academy really does have their collective heads up their collective asses!

The most recent one is probably Sylvester Stallone in Rocky Balboa. I always thought he sucked and had the charm of a coffee table, but he was actually good in that last movie. Not great, but more than decent.

I used to hate Leonardo Dicaprio, I guess because every girl in my middle school was like "oh my go Leo!!!!" but then the guy did Gangs of New York and Catch Me If You Can and since then he has become one of my top 10 actors and his early career is strong as well.

I didn't hate him, but James Franco and his super-serious 'my-body-is-the vessel' attitude toward his profession gave me the spleen. Pineapple Express gave me a new perspective.

Same! My change of opinion on him started with Catch Me If You Can.

I'm with you all on Mickey Rourke and The Wrestler. I'd never liked him, not since his brief stint as a star in the 80's.. and even then, i only liked him because i thought he was hot.... but The Wrestler is the most brilliant actor's comeback of all time.

Better than Travolta?
Mickey Rourke was already coming back, appearing in notable films such as Sin City.
P.S. I thought he was great in The Wrestler.;)

I've always respected him as an actor, but for a long while I never liked Philip Seymour Hoffman. His portrayal of Gust Avrakotos, in Charlie Wilson's War, won me over.

I hated Leonardo DiCaprio for a very long time, despite his excellent performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
I wanted to like him in The Beach, but there was too much bile left over in my system from Titanic.
Even in three consecutive very good performances like Catch Me If You Can, Gangs Of New York, and The Aviator, I still couldn't quite warm up to him.
For whatever reason, it wasn't until The Departed that I actually enjoyed him. I think it was watching him kick the shit out of someone.
