Hey Schmoes! By now you might've noticed that we launched our very own podcast (http://www.joblo.com/joblo-podcast-1) that we're really excited about. The master of all Top Ten lists, Jim Law, will be the host of these puppies that will be released every MONDAY. When I say "oh" you say "yeah". Oh.....never mind.

http://joblo.com/newsimages1/podcastlogo.jpg

DOWNLOAD PODCAST#1 HERE (http://www.joblo.com/video/uploads/podcast/joblo-podcast-ep1.mp3)

In this episode, Jim Law looks at:

Reasons why JoBlo.com has decided to do a podcast
Weekend Box Office numbers and his love for "Sex and the City"?? I know.
His awful neighbor Chachi the Obese Nudist and his equally awful choice in movies
His FAVORITE THREAD OF THE WEEK from the JoBlo.com forums!
Theatrical and DVD Release Dates
Review summaries and more!

We'll also be adding links to new episodes in this thread, and setting up an iTunes page real soon, as well as voicemail box number that you can call and fart into.

PLEASE use this thread to post your thoughts on the topics of the show, to debate and discuss topics of the show and NOT to criticize or critique the host or the show itself.

Feel free to drop Jim Law a line at joblopodcast@joblo.com with any suggestions for a show topic or to tell him how handsome he sounds.

Thanks for listening to the THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE JOBLO MOVIE PODCAST!!

"YEAH!"

Meh. It kinda stinks that My Name is Bruce makes fun of his fanboys. :( My excitement for watching that sorta dwindled.

Chachi the Obese Nudist will be a regular segment? Oh, fabulous!:)

I look forward to the number being set-up and farting into it. ;) Oh yes, there will be farts. (Am I kidding?)

Enjoyed it, but was there some audio clipping or something going on? It seemed like the audio was dropping out at times. I haven't had this happen with other audio clips.

Maybe I took too much man, took too much...

Damn, I always feel kind of happy that my kid never destroyed any of my equipment.

Love the spoiler for The Happening, which I actually watched twice in the past week. The plants being the villains didn't even bother me, it's just that M. Night can't write dialogue at all, which is why I think Unbreakable worked for me, because it was really silent except for Sam Jackson. I almost feel like with the lines like with Zooey and Mark Walberg going back and forth about her "affair" was just ridiculous, compared to a similar scenario in Eyes Wide Shut, it's almost like he's a virgin trying to write it. Then the come back about the cough syrup. What? Even while watching it, there were parts where I could tell M. Night was trying to make it cheesy, but it didn't work, then I later read that he self-proclaimed it as a B-movie (isn't a self-proclaimed B-movie still a pretentious move?) and it made me realize the dude is like a bubble.

Pretty neat stuff. Good 1st Podcast. Love the amount of movie sounds you threw into the podcast. LOL'd at the Chachi Segment at the end. Cool to hear it's an ongoing segment.

If there's one thing the podcast could use for the future is a co-host. I think it could be even better if you were to get someone like maybe Mike Sampson or even Berge next time to play off of.

sbunn10

I think a co-host would make it more exciting and entertaining. It was a good job by Jim Law though.. I laughed a lot. Looking forward to the next one!

Jim Law
02-11-2009, 08:34 PM
Thanks guys. We'll be adding guest appearances from the staff for sure in future episodes. A full time co-host might be difficult to nail down due to different schedules but we're going to try our hardest to spread the love throughout the site. I could fill an entire show just talking to Arrow about some of the stories he's told me but someone would end up getting arrested.

Come back Monday for episode two.

I agree with Jim Law about Dennis Quaid. I hope he gets a suitable "vehicle" soon. Vantage Point was shit.

I enjoyed the Scream trilogy. Hopefully any future installment isn't a remake. Continuation, why not?

Johnny Moreno
03-05-2009, 05:09 PM
I don't mind another Scream trilogy either, as long as its not a remake, because what would be the point?

I thought Vantage Point was "decent" but definitely not the role for Dennis Quaid.

I'd like to see Randy Quaid make a comeback now that we're talking about the Quaids.

Nice picks, Tweek. I wasn't sure about Megan Fox myself. Like I said in the podcast, something seems "mannish" about her, but she also looks like someone you could get fucked up with and she can still maintain. Which goes a long way in my book :)

Bull Durham is a baseball movie!! The love story doesn't kick in until the last 30 minutes. But you've got nothing but baseball up until then. I have no problem with it being called a romcom, but it's a sports flick first and foremost. Hell, it's probably the only sports movie that doesn't come down to the "last shot, final homerun," or "last second goal or touchdown."

And Alyssa Milano was in Pathology which is recent.

Just got around to listening to the 7th Podcast. Glad to see you both seemed to think so highly of Rosario Dawson like me too (She's on of my #1's) . I'm surprised you'd have her as a Cinderella story though.

I think Uma Thurman and Jennifer Aniston definitely make the cut. But I wouldn't have Cameron Diaz or Carmen Electra in, for me at least. Neither have done much for me, especially Diaz though.

And as for a thread to recommend, This one gave me a great laugh and is loaded with some hilarious posts, and brought you to think: Movies in Which Jeff Daniels Has Been Shot: http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65549

I think the idea for a hottie fantasy league would be cool as hell. The toughest thing would be finding the proper interface for such a thing. Obviously, it would be cool to have something with the functionality of the fantasy sports offered at ESPN.com and Yahoo.com. However, I don't think you could easily be able to mimic such complex sites. There are celeb gossip fantasy leagues out there, but I've never actually had the desire to check those out because they seem more meanspirited and aimed more at infamy than fame.

One site I would recomend looking at is HSX.com. I have been an active trader on their site for over 6 years now. They have Moviestocks that can be actively traded based on traders perception of the box office of future releases. They also have Starbonds that change in value based on their TAG (Trailing Average Gross), which is an average of the combined sums of the last 5 movies the actor/actress has been in. This of course wouldn't really be an accurate way of gauging the actresses success though. Just off the top of my head, the TAG is hurt massively by an actress who is also in independent/low budget movies and there is no way to accurately weight the value of an actress' appeal to the final box office figures.

I definitely think there should be value given to actresses success in the awards department so it doesn't just become a beauty pageant. Other things that are yearly judges of beauty that could be used as some sort of hottie-barometer are: Maxim's Hot 100, AskMen.com's Top 99 Women, Mr. Skin's Yearly Top 20 nude scenes, MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss.

One other tough thing would be drawing a line at the ages of actresses included. If you are too lenient over the minimum age, then it could get kinda strange for older schmoes that don't wanna feel like pervs. If you are too stringent, then you have teen idols who only become available when they turn a certain age and may already be considered uber-hot like when celebs like Emma Watson, Lindsay Lohan, and Natalie Portman turned 18.

Anyways, whoever is in charge of getting a capable site would have a lot of stuff to consider.

bigred760

Moreno - I'm envious that you got to see all these upcoming movies and upcoming footage in Vegas.

And the Hottie Fantasy League:

Box Office success
-#1 at the weekend box office: 100 points
-5 points per $25 million the movie makes at box office ($100 million = 20 points, etc.)

-minus 10 points if movie doesn't make budget back

Hotness
-Nudity that actually shows breasts: 500 points
-Nudity that does not show breasts: minus 100 points (nobody likes a tease)
-Anything along the lines of a bikini, tank top, see through shirt: 100 points
-Winning the Best T&A at the Golden Schmoes: 500 points

Awards
-Oscar nomination: 50 points
-Oscar win: 50 points (on top of the 50 nomination points)
-Golden schmoe nomination: 25 points
-Golden schmoe win: 50 points
-Any other major nomination: 20 points
-Any other major win: 50 points

I like the idea bigred has.

What's I'm wondering is how you would pick your hotties? Would you just have a number of open slots and pick out of a pool? And would the picking process work like a football fantasy draft?

JJFlamingo
04-10-2009, 06:38 PM
Do a draft. One at a time, everyone gets a number one, so on, so forth. When you get to the bottom work your way back up, that way the last guy in line gets two consecutive picks.

That'll work. We keep picking til everyone involved gets the certain amount of hotties that is designated. After that . . . they can be traded, dropped, and picked up until a certain date (just before December/February when Oscar-bait movies come out?).

Moreno: Man of the People :)

Meh, The Spirit! :( I like how Frank Miller tried to justify all the changes he made some time before the movie was released. Hi-funking-larious. I'm still looking forward to a Sin City 2, though.

I also thought Winslet should have won the Oscar for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I was surprised she hadn't been nominated for Revolutionary Road. That was weird to me.

Moreno . . . I think we should get pictures of those eggs.

Kate Winslet was better in Revolutionary Road . . . I thought she was good in The Reader, but not Oscar-worthy.

My only problem with Hugh Jackman is that he really hasn't done anything big except Wolverine. He's an awesome Wolverine, but has done little else. I liked Swordfish, but it's nothing spectacular and it's mostly known for Halle Berry being topless and John Travolta's schpeel in it.

I'm on Skype, but only have the microphone . . . no headset.

Another great podcast, guys. Look forward to next week.

Big shout out for Lindsey! (And just for the record, I also bought the book :D).

If one action star is missing from The Expendables, it's Wesley Snipes. C'mon . . . you've got a Rocky IV reunion with Lundgren and Stallone, a The Specialist reunion with Roberts and Stallone; why not a Demolition Man reunion with Snipes and Stallone?

Total Recall? Really?
And Total Recall is more dated than A Clockwork Orange.

And I'm a big fan of PTI, and "Around the Horn," but you guys have a ways to go before you come close to that show. :D I think I wrote a blog when myjoblo.com started about how movies should be discussed in similar shows. Glad to know somebody else thought that would be a good idea.

Goodfellas is marvelous. Se7en is in my top ten.

I'm looking forward to The Expendables slightly more than Inglourious Basterds. But that doesn't mean I'm not excited at all for the latter.

Yeah, it's really hard to pick what I'm more excited for. Like I said, Inglorious Basterds by the shortest hair.

The Moreno Familia goes 2 for 3 in the egg competition. But still, I wanted to physically smash all those eggs to show a point.

The other 2 flicks I should've picked before Goodfellas though was The Usual Suspects and Pulp Fiction. Maybe because I was in the presence of greatness I panicked and chose Goodfellas. And by greatness I don't mean JoBlo, I mean Maker's Mark whisky:cool:

good episode. I have to admit i am far more interested in Inglourious Basterds than The Expendables. The script is phenomenal, read it twice. The marketing campaign doesn't do it justice. I'm hesitant with Stalone's film, he was taking advice from fans as to who he should cast, which is retarded. fans haven't read the script, they don't know what these characters are like. It just seems like he wants to make it the "Around the World in 80 Days" of action films, without a plot. It just doesn't sound interesting to me.

Good favorite films lists, Goodfellas is greatness, Se7en is fun, Total Recall is... Total Recal is a favorite of all time? :) haha it's all good. i own it on Blu-ray, fun movie.

Just finished listening... gotta agree with APZombie and Moreno.. Inglorious Basterds has much more appeal for me. I'll see em both, but I have much more faith in Tarantino than in Stallone to deliver a good story with great dialogue.
Do you guys think the Expendables will be any more than a mindless, somewhat plotless action-romp?

I liked hearin from the man himself, Joblo. haha... the mix up with the favorite movie of all time NOW question was hilarious.

I know I should hate myself for this, but I actually haven't seen Goodfellas yet. Se7en is fantastic though, good pick... Picking your favorite movie is one of the hardest things ever. My top ten is pretty much interchangeable.

and Moreno, were the judges movie fans? bc your eggs should have won.. no doubt about it

Johnny Moreno has an awesome british accent.

This is the first time I listened to the joblo podcast cuz it advertised talking about schmoes, so I felt included. I'm going to stick with the podcast from hereon out since everybody has good rapport and good radio voices. If I had any recommends- remembering that this is the first time I've checked it out- I'd say you guys should advertise schmoe-related stuff more. You can chime in about your opinions of large or popular threads, hit on more underage jailbait schmoes, or just generally talk about things that your users can feel included with. I was going to ignore all of the hard work you guys put into these podcasts as usual :D until I read "something somethings we'll talk about a schmoe something something!!" so I clicked on it and listened. Now I'll stick with it.

We usually do a 'Thread of the Week' every episode. The last couple shows have been too packed but we will be getting back to it. We're trying to make this as Schmoe-friendly as possible. We'll also be running a Hottie Fantasy Draft soon which will include a few Schmoes. Thanks for listening and who knows, you might be the next one called out on the show.

I'm still not even sure what the NOW means but it's all good. If it means at this point in time, I do have to go again and say either No Country or There Will Be Blood. Why? Because THERE WILL BE, mark my words, BLOOD.

If all time, I'd go with Pulp over Goodfellas.

Johnny Moreno has an awesome british accent.

Thanks! I hope to one day get it "cockney" enough as Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast or Michael Caine.

And as the others have pointed out (and by the others I don't mean stupid Lost) we love Schmoe interaction. Right now we have the message board but we have bigger plans for listener interaction that includes but is not limited to saying hi over email.

Just got around to hearing it a few days ago. Pretty neat.

Out of all the movies for JoBlo to pick, totally did not expect Total Recallat the moment.

I still stick to The Departed but I agree it's tough to stick to just 1 favorite.

Between Expendables and Basterds, I still stick with Basterds. Expendables is still at risk of being crappy (But I don't think it will be  ) That and a WWII movie by Quentin Tarantino? That alone gets me excited.

I like the set-up you guys have forthe Hottie Fantasy league. you should've asked JoBlo who his top 4 seeds would have been. We all know who the top seed is obviously though :D

-I enjoyed A&D the book over Da Vinci Code. But I do agree with Mike Sampson, in that The Da Vinci Code movie wasn't that good and that it was nowhere near as good as the book.

-DVC made a boatload of money at the box office because of all the controversy behind it, what with the Catholic Church saying Ron Howard and Tom Hanks were going to hell and all that. I don't think A&D will make the same bank as its predecessor.

-I think Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will make the most moola this summer. Up will be #2, and Harry Potter will be #3.

-Comparing Lindsey to Tina Yothers is beyond freakin' WRONG!! And you guys need to pick some "Threads of the Week" that aren't in the Celebrity Gossip forum, I'm all for naked pics of celebrities but this is the 2nd straight one. - I've got Transformers 2 at #1, Harry Potter at #2 and Night of The Museum 2 at #3. I'm may be crazy but I've got Angels & Demons at #6. I think I fucked majorly up on Star Trek which I pegged at #7.

- I liked The Da Vinci Code so it's easy for me to get ready for Angels & Demons. It was a better book and I thought it felt like 24 mixed with DVC if that makes any sense.

- If anything, Lindsey deserves the love she gets. especially after making this thread :D http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129428

I disagree with you on Fanboys, Jim Law. I'm not a huge Star Wars fangirl and I loved the movie. I don't think one has to be a 'fanboy'/'fangirl' of the franchise to enjoy it.

The version of it that was released was the original storyline but with some of the reshot footage put in, if I recall correctly.

I'll say I feel Smarter for finally having go out to see the entire Mad Max Trilogy this week. 2 fantastic movies (Mad Max 1 & 2) and an alright one (3)

But I also brought that down and felt a bit Dumber for watching Twilight online on a boring day...Why I did that I don't even know...

I don't go to IMDB ever.. it's a piece of poo. RottenTomatoes is much better.

I think that the idea for a Joblo overall rating system is good, but I think that there should be a requirement for someone to have their rating count.. there should be a minimum number of posts before they are allowed to rate. It would cut down on the random people voting.

In this episode:

Senior News Editor for Arrow in the Head, Ammon Gilbert joins the podcast.
Ammon will be hosting his very own podcast for AITH called "Blood, Bullets and Broads." Know what it's about? Llamas.
Speaking of Llamas, we're currently obsessed with Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus starring DEBORAH Gibson and Lorenzo Lamas. The topic of last week's SMARTER or DUMBER segment is brought up again as we breakdown the cover art, see it HERE. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B001UIY73C/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=130&s=dvd)
I take a steaming pile of shit all over TERMINATOR SALVATION. Know why? Because that's what it did to me.
A few of you mentioned Mike's constant sniffling during his appearance on the podcast. I isolated each one of his sniffs and it is played back here. Check it izzy!
Theatrical and DVD Release Dates. There ain't a whole lotta shit coming out, just a little movie called UP.
No mention of Lindsey this week. Shit. Does this count?
Jim Law, Host of the JoBlo Movie Podcast, doesn't want his 2 year old ruining UP when he goes to see it this week. Should he go by himself?
The "SMARTER OR DUMBER?" segment is back and guess what? (SPOILER) We're all smarter.

If you guys are on SKYPE, let us know because we want to drunkenly interact with you and then promptly forget about talking to you or doing a podcast the next day.

Just letting you guys know.. Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus is Yahoo Movies' DVD pick of the week :D That's definately one of the most ridiculously awesome trailers I've ever witnessed.

It's decided - a Friday afternoon double feature with UP and DRAG ME TO HELL. The kids won't have any part of this.

Consider me stoked.

Hells yeah. I was lucky enough to see a screening of Up at 10am and Drag Me To Hell at 7:30pm yesterday...

BOTH were fantastic. Up is another great Pixar movie an it's up there with their best stuff I think. Drag Me To Hell surprised the hell out of me and not only did it work at being really funny, but it actually scared me a number of times. That hasn't happened to me with a horror movie in ages.

-I'd say see Up on your own the 1st time in 2D then bring the kids the 2nd go round and see it in 3D that time so you get something new in both viewings.

-Your kids will probably get nightmares from Drag Me to Hell.

- I'm SMARTER this week for getting my ass up very early and also running like no other to go see up and Drag Me To Hell. Very much worth the pain.

-I haven't become Dumber this week...yet...

I think it's awesome you guys came back a day later after Jim Law forgot to hit the record button the first time around.

Another great intro song for Amman Gilbert . . . very cool. The "Smarter or Dumber" one is still my favorite though. Followed by "I Fought Jim Law."

I'm dumber this week because of the recent Paris Hilton thread (in the Celebrity Gossip Forum) when she said she would "act" for Tarantino. I can't stand Paris Hilton.

I don't think Jessica Biel has the power to open her own movie, even if she does go topless. She's an okay actress, she's hot, but she's no Reese Witherspoon or Julia Roberts.

Another great podcast, guys!

Tweek
05-28-2009, 10:41 PM
I had to pause because I was laughing so much at Ammon's intro. :D It might rival Jim Law's.

Cuba Gooding Jr... I had to look him up on IMDb because I don't really follow the guy's work. Yeesh, and I thought Jerry Maguire was bad! (I really hate that movie.) He was in two things that I really enjoyed: As Good As It Gets, What Dreams May Come,

I'm dumber this week for trying to give Death Proof another view. (I await any boos and hisses.)

Well done, Sirs. :)

bigred760
05-28-2009, 11:10 PM
I think Cuba Gooding Jr.'s problems started when he tried to become the next Eddie Murphy. Coming out with stupid family comedies and trying to be the lead in movies, even though his Oscar was for Best Supporting Actor. His best roles have been in supporting parts: Jerry Maguire, Outbreak, As Good As It Gets and what was mentioned in the podcast: American Gangster.

drc5145
05-29-2009, 09:44 AM
-I almost spat out my coffee this morning, listening to the podcast, the part where we hear all of Mike's Sniffs from his appearance. I don't know why but I found it funny too. :D

-Medal to whoever made Ammon's intro

-I never really realized how much of a fluke Cuba Gooding Jr. was in winning that Oscar. I completely forgot Primal Fear came out that year so that REALLY hurts because Edward Norton is so damn good in that movie. How the fuck did that happen? Norton went on to do Fight Club and Incredible Hulk...Cuba went on to do...Daddy Day Camp...and straight to DVD shit.

Since we sometimes record the podcast on Sundays, we sometimes do a Box Office segment. This leads to a new production piece that will have the ladies creamin' in their underoos.
We got some new...ruh-leas-es (new....ruh-lease) fuck yeah!
Jim Law recently discovered the wonders of Blu-ray. Later, he discovered the wonders of the internal combustion engine and ditched his horse drawn wagon.
I make an ill informed bet on what will be number 1 at the box office based on nothing but......well, nothing.
Our joint review on UP and Jim Law puts his kids in a play pen full of popcorn as he and the wifey check out a double feature including DRAG ME TO HELL
Finally, our love of Mega Shark vs. Lorenzo Lamas comes to a head as we painstakingly break down the story, the effects and the Razzie-worth performances. Also, some choice soundbites from the flick!(SPOILER) Lorenzo Lamas will fuck you up.

I know what you're talking about Jim Law, and the same happened for me with Braveheart. I have given 10's out immediately following a first viewing... only for a few movies though.. like Reservoir Dogs, the Shawshank Redemption, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and a few others.

The dvd cover conversation was hilarious. and I HAVE to watch Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.

Another good podcast. I think you guys were chomping at the bit to get to your discussion of the Megashark movie. And it was worth the wait. Great, hilarious discussion the movie. I don't know if I want to see it; I'm not a big fan of bad b-movies . . . unless they have a guy and two robots making fun of them.

Just saw Up. Another really good Pixar movie; I agree that I think it'll make Incredibles money. It's a fun kids movie, but I don't think it's as epic as Finding Nemo.

Johnny Moreno
06-02-2009, 11:00 PM
I kinda have to go with you BigRed and say that I'm not a big fan of the bad B movies just because they're bad, but there's something inherently childish about talking shit about a bad movie for all of its flaws that I enjoy.

By the way, now that some of you have listened to the podcast and our joint review of UP, I gotta say that Jim Law's review of the film made me rethink my rating. I gave it a 9 in the podcast, and after talking it over with the host of the JoBlo Movie Podcast, I'm giving it a 5.

In light of the recent Shutter Island trailer, and the Joblo poll about Scorcese's films, I think it would be really cool to hear Jim Law and Moreno discuss their favorite Scorcese film. You sirs don't post a lot on the forums, so it would be good to hear your thoughts on some of the older films that aren't in the news now. Perhaps you two could have a dvd/classic pick of the week from your list of favorites?

Captain Morgan and an "8-ball" (?) of Coke. 2 things to add to Jim Law's shopping list.

The last time I laughed hard in a movie theater may have been Knocked Up in 2007. That movie was hilarious all around.

I loved when the discussion between you 3 touched on the porn star story. Some of the funniest stuff yet and I almost spit my coffee when El Guapo mentioned the thought of 200 dudes with boners running around a park, being chased by cops, the scene set to Benny Hill music. :D

bigred760
06-11-2009, 04:26 PM
I can remember laughing really hard when I saw There's Something About Mary, American Pie and the South Park movie. I don't think I laughed as hard during The Hangover, but it was close. Also laughed my ass off at Moreno's "audio" from the attempted 200 blowjobs.

I definitely vote for the Beatles' "Thread of the Week" intro song.

After our conversation with Duncan where we discussed Sam Rockwell, Terminator Salvation and Iron Man 2, we talk to The Arrow where we discuss Tina Yudders, Friday the 13th "The Killer Cut" and the orgy that takes place in The Arrow's apartment.
Box Office numbers. I fought Jim Law and I won.

-Can't wait til Moon gets to Atlanta; looking forward to seeing it. Really cool that the director called in to be interviewed by you guys.

-Taking of Pelham 123 was okay, mostly because of Travolta and Washington. They played well off each other. I think the biggest issue with it is it's not a summer blockbuster movie. I think it would've done better if it had been released in February-April or September-October.

-Ryan Reynolds was best in his TV show "Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place." I liked him in Van Wilder, but I agree with you guys that he should be in some R-rated comedies.

-Year One looks like crap; there's nothing that looks funny about that flick. It looks like a spoof of One Million Years B.C.

-Friday the 13th wasn't a good flick, in my opinion . . . but that one chick did have some nice breasts. Don't blame the Arrow at all for loving her.

-I could barely sit through the trailer for Tommy and the Cool Mule . . . not going to be able to sit through the movie.

The blu rays of old movies are better quality than the dvd.. at least the ones that I've watched. I own Reservoir Dogs on both blu ray and dvd, and the blu ray's pq is noticeably better. www.blu-ray.com/movies is a good place to check out the video quality/ stuff before you buy a blu ray.

I was in denial for the longest time, but recently I've jumped on the blu ray wagon. I've compared the few that I have on both dvd and blu ray by playing them at the same time, (one in blu ray player, one in xbox) and the difference is so vast it's insane. If you just start watching a blu ray, you don't realize how different it is, you get spoiled... but when you watch a scene on dvd and then on blu ray, it's crazy.

I would definately send in if I knew all of the screencaps, Jim Law, but I think that the lackluster effort by some of us schmoes may be because of the prize. :D
No offense or anything, I would be more than happy to get some free shit, but one of the screen shots is a mystery to me. It's just that literally every schmoe who's seen Legend of Chun Li has absolutely bashed the hell out of it. They may not even want it for free!

I really enjoyed Public Enemies... The acting and the cinematography was excellent, but the digital look did bother me a bit. It felt like I was watching a movie being shot, rather than events happening in 1933. It doesn't take away too much from the film, but it gives it a cold look. I think it would have been better on film, just saying.

While the story was slow at times, the relationship between Dillinger and Billie was very effective, and was ultimately the saving grace of the film, imo. The couple ending scenes were also fantastic, imo, especially the scene in the theater when we see Dillinger's reaction to the Clark Gable film.

I usually aren't satisfied with my rating after one viewing, but for now, 8.5/10

And that pic of Amy Adams made my day a little less happy :(

While explaining [REC] to me and whether its comparable to Cloverfield, Jim Law answers a question I didn't even ask. In the biz, they call this "par for the course".
You know how we lay into DVD covers and how awful they are? This week just makes us mad.
Speaking of Harry Potter, Jim Law thinks looking at Emma Watson's boobies is creepy.

DOWNLOAD CON CAST #1 HERE (http://www.joblo.com/audio/joblo-podcast-ep25.mp3)

In this episode:

It's our first Con Cast ever, we got the whole gang here including myself, Mike Sampson, Jim Law, Ammon Gilbert, the great Jimmy O and our easy going pimp, camera dude Rusty.
First impressions of Preview Night!
Jimmy O saw Orphan and loved it.
I got recognized by a fan at the Con, it ruled. Take that, Dad!

DOWNLOAD CON CAST #2 HERE (http://www.joblo.com/audio/joblo-podcast-ep26.mp3)

In this episode:

Recorded mere minutes after the Wrath of Con party (i.e, the greatest party ever), Jim Law and Ammon Gilbert drunkenly break down the party.
Law hates Hall H and everything in it.
Details about the MGM Stargate party where I got photobombed like a motherfucker. Son of a bitches.
Jim Law and I get recognized at a Focus Features party by a genuine fan of the podcast. It was awesome.
Details on secret pics!

Elevators at the Hard Rock are star studded.
We had the best time at our staff dinner at Dick's, where we threw paper at a girl that we simply called, "FAIL".
Law loves Kevin Smith and his panel at the Con.

Just listened to the last concast and the funniest thing about the paper fight story seems to be that you called some random chick fail. But what makes it funny is that you guys are in San Diego a heavily hispanic area. A bunch of drunk guys yelling out fail may come across as feo or fea (which is spanish for ugly, incase you didn't know). Now thats messed up but funny at the same time.

other useless knowledge pertaining to today's podcast content:

i don't know if it helped the younger audience to relate to john hughes movies but the initial release of weird science, sixteen candles, and breakfast club had new music in it like the think it was popa roach. if you look at the second issue of those movies under special features it says "with original music".

oh and the whole Edmond Dantes name was use on movies he wrote the story/treatments for but never developed and was pick up, usually later. also was used as a homage to the lead character in The Count of Monte Cristo, for those who didn't know.

its kinda funny that you hate Jason Segel for playing well a character based on himself. Forgetting sarah marshall was based on his life. actually its mostly about his breakup with linda cardellini who was also the girl he cried over in freaks and geeks. that kind of came full circle for him didn't it. life imitating art imitating life.

i don't know what's sadder that last story or that i know all this crap and felt like sharing the fact that i know it. oh well, great show guys. any word on the live episode, maybe for the release of movie fan central?

Points well taken on the first few, I had no idea. I was actually going to bring all that up, but Jim Law told me not to.

My first film experience with Jason Segel is FSM. But recently I've been watching Freaks and Geeks and noticed the similarities. It's weird, I brought up that he reminded me of Judge Reinhold and JoBlo, the man hisself, yelled at me.

If those pics are down because she was underrage, then Mike Sampson has some explaining to do. He told us she was legal in those pics because I guess the "legal age" in Jersey is 12.

I'm pretty sure most writers use pseudonyms because when you make a name for yourself under one name doing a particular type of writing- Most fans of your work will hate if you all of a sudden changed your voice, your style or your normal content in your new book. So you write it under another name, that way there's no pesky "Expectations" like there would be if he had written it under his normal name.

Pseudonyms...Sometimes writers think it'll help them in a change with genres. Or sometimes they think a name is snappier. There are other reasons too.

Alex Keen, former guest co host and writer of the GAME ON BITCHES article, wants me to make t-shirts with the "I'm escarree" kid. I'm currently working on designs.

I would wear that t-shirt till the day I die

hey did you guys ever give the answers to the five screen caps that were part of the street fighter contest?

I totally meant to do this last night when we were recording the new episode and forgot. And I can't find the pictures anymore. Anyway, here you go.

The bullets in the garbage can - CARLITO'S WAY
The comic book - UNBREAKABLE
The bar sign - GREMLINS
The mangled bridge - EVIL DEAD 2
The Oreos - ROUNDERS

Just for the record, nobody won. Nobody even tried to win. We'll package the DVDs with some other shit for a future giveaway.

Thanks for not playing. :)

The only one I recognized was from Unbreakable.

Jim Law, I don't believe that the latest Street Fighter was too highly thought of among the schmoes.

While I agree with Tweek-- I don't think most Schmoes even want to give the new Street Fighter the light of day-- I must say that I found the images really challenging. I got Unbreakable and Evil Dead 2, but I wasn't able to place the others. Not complaining though as it was a good challenge.

I agrees. I've never seen Carlito's Way, and it's been a LONG time since Gremlins.

In this episode:

We've seen District 9 (or as the kids call it, "D9"). We are head over heels for it. Did you see it? Did you love it as much as us?
We try our best not to spoil D9 for anyone who hasn't seen it, and It hink we did a good job.
Jim Law is enamored with 17 Again and envious of Zac Efron's basketball skills.
This week sees the release of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds. To that end, a lofty discussion of Brad Pitt. Also, does anyone else get douche chills seeing Eli Roth in the trailer?

If we had a poster, that would be our quote at the top.

Moreno, why don't we have a poster?

I'm working on it. Gotta go return some videotapes.

so i've been waiting to see the poster hinted at in a previous post and nothing. i had some down time, thought hey i'll see what i can do. figured i'd try and make a old style poster. i've been wanting to try making one for awhile. half way through it though i realized this was gonna take a long time cause i'll have to hand draw it. and while you guys are cool and all i didn't feel like taking that long on it. there is just no easy way to do it in photoshop. specially with low res photo ([hint] cough [hint] it'll make a photoshop forum easier if that happens again). this is what did come about:
http://www.moviefancentral.com/images/pictures/36927/image_057c1da2e.jpg?1250546360 ....... http://www.moviefancentral.com/images/pictures/36927/image_ad199eca6.jpg?1250546550

p.s. i thought why not do one for ammon too. i put it up on his podcast forum, check it out. (i think that one came out better)

Oh and good luck seeing Megan Fox's acting talent in Jennifer's Body. Didn't she talk shit about that movie too. Because it being a Diablo Cody script she wasn't allowed to change any dialogue one bit which fucked with her performance, blah, blah, blah.
Moreno was missed too. When Law and Joblo were talking about the fall movies, specifically the fourth kind, I was waiting for someone to chime in and say, "yeah that's a sequel to Close Encounters..." and nothing :( .

It was fun listening to Joblo and Mr. Law talk about the rest of '09's slate of movies. There's not that much.

While I am one of those excited to see Where the Wild Things Are, mostly because of Spike Jonze, I do agree with them that I don't see anything special about The Fantastic Mr. Fox. I'm not a big fan of Wes Anderson, and the trailer did absolutely nothing for me.

I'm back on track with the podcasts... awesome to hear from the man himself, it was a great podcast.

I'm very excited for Where the Wild Things Are... the trailer looks fantastic, imo. I don't think it's the Canada thing, I just think that the book was more popular when I was growing up (I'm 20 now). I remember reading it in elementary school.

I'm also looking forward to Mr. Fox, but that's partially bc I'm a big Wes Anderson fan. But he's not for everyone.

Oh and gotta give props to Moreno for his number 1 and 2 picks for the summer. Smart man, that Johnny Moreno.

I'd suggest making it a giveaway but it might just end up like the Street Fighter dvd contest :( (one I would have entered if I knew the Carlito's Way and the Evil Dead 2 screen caps, the others were easy).
