if you could eliminate one current trend in Hollywood, what would you do away with?
Frankly, all of the above, along with pre-release clips, and trailers that essentially summarise the movie. But I'm voting for Shaky-Cam, the all pervasive plague that is fucking up movies left and right.

I'm also gonna go with all of the above. But in particular the below three.
influx of unnecessary, creatively shallow sequels.
influx of unnecessary, creatively shallow remakes.
limited releases of the better films each year.

The limited release bullshit. Repo, Midnight Meat Train and the like deserved better than what they got.

shakey cam, and not even because i dont really like it, but because it is whined about everywhere. literally, any movie that has it gets bitched at for it, and it really isnt impressive enough to make me want to have to listen to everyone whine about how the camera shakes just so i can see it in a movie.

Remakes. Remakes with shaky cam and cgi really suck though. :p (In remakes defence, there are some great ones: Hills Have Eyes anybody.)

Limited releases for sure. The fact that I'm JUST getting the opportunity to see Slumdog Millionaire this Friday is quite frankly disgusting. I also had to wait more than a month to see Revolutionary Road, The Reader and The Wrestler.
Shaky cam comes in 2nd place. I rarely complain about it, but it is starting to get on my nerves.

All of the above. But especially the limited release bullshit.

I agree with you. Though I voted for "remakes" I hate the new trend of the shaky cam. It works perfectly if done well and needed, but it's become a lazy excuse of style.

I voted for the low theater count for some the smaller movies. It pisses me off that I did not see wrestler, sin city, there will be blood, & others in theater because they did not come to my area in time because I live in a small town.

Limited releases of the better films each year. Casual moviegoers can entertain themselves with the crap that gets released at every AMC theater every weekend. I just want to see the good stuff.

The crappy sequels would top my list. Imagine how many good films could be made and put into limited release if Tyler Perry couldn't get another Madea shitfest financed.

Limited release.
While I'm also severely irritated by the influx of crappy remakes and sequels, I wouldn't mind them so much if they weren't more or less the only movies available; since my local crappy ass theater never carries limited release films, and just about every movie I do want to see is limited release.

Shaky cam doesn't bother me. Remakes don't really bother me too much.
And there's a reason for limited releases: most people just won't go and see them.
But the automatic sequel is getting tired. Pink Panther 2? Really?
Used to be that if a movie got a sequel, that was kind of a special thing. In fact, some of you may remember 1992 being dubbed "The Summer of Sequels" because it had Alien 3, Lethal Weapon 3, and Batman Returns... That was it. Three sequels and the press gave the season a nickname.
Now you can't get one month that doesn't have three sequels.

I think the word "unnecessary" is the most unnecessary word used to critique anything. When it comes down to it, any film can be deemed unnecessary.

I went with overused CGI. A movie can have a limited release, be a sequel or whatever, use overexposed filters and still be a good movie. Overused CGI is just what it is - overused.

Pointless sequels and remakes don't really bother too much.
And as for shaky cam, well it depends on the movie. It was a problem with Transformers and Eagle Eye and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. But it can be used well too like Paul Greengrass flicks (United 93, Bourne flicks), Cloverfield, ect.
The one that has always pissed me off so bad is when I want to see a movie really badly but end up having to wait for dvd due it being only in limited release. So I vote for that one BY FAR!

They all piss me off. The one that I would choose to eliminate would be CGI. I think filmmakers would toil more without it and thus work harder on making a good film.

There was over 20 sequels released in 2003 alone. Most of which were terrible. (Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Home Alone 4, etc)

The lack of any younger actors who can act. It goes to show you can look good and still suck at acting. I think the only few that i find pretty good are:
Jonah Hill: He cracks me up and he's actually funny.
James McAvoy: He's starting to grow in me. He was pretty badass in Wanted
Ellen Page: I think she needs to a different role besides the smart alecky bitch. I know she can do better than that.
That one fat kid in Drillbit Taylor: I think this kid is funny as fuck. Half the shit he said had me cracking up.
Josh Peck: Ignore that nickelodeon show drake and josh, and watch the wackness. I think the kid can act. Too bad Drake keeps getting into shitty movies. Never Liked Him.
And that's about it. I really can't stand the High school musical cast.

It's good to see that I'm not the only one who wants some steady cam from time to time, with an original script.
Too much movies these days have a blue, grey and brown look. Washed out colors !

I blame Janusz Kaminski, The Wachowski bros, Paul Greengrass and Christopher Nolan on that.

Definetly CGI, it totally ruins a lot of movies, just look at what happened with I Am Legend (shame they didn't do it based on the book).
I don't understand the problem with shakey cams or whatever, that don't bother me one bit.
As for remakes, I don't know where I stand with them, I try n give most a chance, I've really enjoyed some (TCM, Dawn, Friday, Hills) and fuckin hated others (Prom, Fog, Black Christmas, dark water).
