I might have Gomorra, The Dark Knight, and Il Divo, but no others would come close.

Adam Resurrected, Ballast, The Edge of Heaven, The Fall, O'Horten, Rachel Getting Married, Synecdoche, New York, The Unknown Woman, and Wendy and Lucy could be argued, but I can't know for sure until the thing's over.

The Wrestler and In Bruges are definites.

The Dark Knight and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button are possible. The later probably not.

Don't know if they would make it to the top 10 but the best of the best of 2008 were:
- 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days
- Milk
- Wall-E
- Frost/Nixon

Hmm.. Top 10 of the Decade .. Tough question .. It is difficult enough to make it ONLY ten ..

But alright then.. I would go with WALL-E.. Because it was the most all-around movie..

I might change my mind at the end of the day though..

In Bruges was awesome, and so far has probably been my favorite of 2008, maybe deserving of a spot in a list with There Will Be Blood.

The Dark Knight, Wall E, and The Wrestler all have a good chance.

Cronos
02-25-2009, 03:29 PM
The Wrestler and Let The Right One In are the only ones that would likely make the list.

Most definitely, The Dark Knight and Milk.

And since the Director's Cut came out in 2008, I'll say Zodiac as well

0.

Revolutionary Road would come the closest, but probably isn't even top 15.

2008 was by far the worst year for movies this decade. I'm bugged by people who say that every year and I think most of the naughts were pretty good, but '08 just sucked as a whole.

Sgizzy316

only one would be The Dark Knight

2000 to present i believe

For decade it's 2000 - 2009

As for that Millennium thing, 2000 vs 2001, I have no idea what the truth is. The moment you're born you go by days, weeks, and months. A newborn is not a 1 year old, so 2001 should not be the birth of the decade, century, or millennium.

Revolutionary Road and The Dark Knight would definitely make my top 10. Frost/Nixon would be in the 25-30 area, I think. Not a lot else though.

I agree with those saying 2008 was a weak year for movies.

well, tops from 2008.. The Wrestler.. No question.

It made me feel the way i did when i first saw Sling Blade. Disturbed, touched, moved and even inspired.

My top movie of 2008 was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button... but no movie from this year would crack my top 10 of the decade, no sir. No movie this year even managed to get a perfect 10/10 rating from me - even Benjamin Button was a 9/10 for me. That compared to last year, which had two 10/10 movies (There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men).

The top 10:

1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2. City of God
3. Lord of the Rings trilogy
4. The Pianist
5. Gladiator
6. Children of Men
7. Requiem for a Dream
8. There Will Be Blood
9. No Country for Old Men
10. Almost Famous

QUENTIN

I take it back, to some extent. 2008 was still the weakest year this decade for movies, but one movie definitely would make the top ten of the decade.

I will remember 2008 as the year that Matteo Garrone announced himself to the world as the next great filmmaker with Gomorrah (10/10).

Garrone joins David Gordon Green, Fernando Meirelles, and Rian Johnson on the short list of master directors to emerge in the naughts. Gomorrah is a stunningly shot, impeccably acted, brilliantly arranged and executed portrait of life in Naples connected to the Comorra crime family. More The Wire than The Godfather, it illustrates the dishonesty and glamorization of almost all other mafia films and brings the most realistic, human characters of the year to the screen.

Che is next upon my list and '08 may turn out to be a little better than I thought.

I'm glad you liked it. Gomorra's one of my favourites. It doesn't get much love from the IMDb crowd, but their top 250 is mostly not to my taste, so I guess each to their own.

I saw Che part one, I thought it was well made but the story was weak. Hopefully part two will change my perception. Have you seen part one?

Out of 2008, I'm not sure. The only ones I'd put under consideration though would be The Dark Knight, Wall-E, In Bruges & Milk. That's it. I'm not even sure any of them would make it.

Dark Knight without a doubt. Slumdog Millionaire too. Maybe Wall-E and In Bruges, though perhaps not in the top ten.

Milk is the only film from 2008 that may make my top ten of the 2000's. But I think it would just miss it. Great film regardless.

The Dark Knight, although I still love it, doesn't hold up as well with repeated viewings.

There were some awesome movies last year - The Dark Knight, Doubt, Milk, Revolutionary Road, The Reader, Wall E, Tropic Thunder - but I don't think I'd rank any of them in my top 10 of the decade.

Let The Right One In & maybe Wall-E.
I'll have to wait until I take a closer look at the decade to be sure.
TDK may be in there, though I didn't love it as much as everybody else.
