First off the cover art is completely misleading. There is no one walking around with shotguns and gasmasks. Hell the only military are in the begining and the end and even then there is no military vs zombie engagements. The film had promise but they ruined it. It follows 3 groups of people and it shows the human drama nicely but for the most part it is not the zombie horror film you are lead to believe from the cover art and trailer.

I saw this at Blockbuster and was gonna get it but it was checked out (poor basterd:D). I looked it uo online and saw all the reviews saying it was really bad. Even the trailer looked like a lower budgt Diary of The Dead.

It can't be any worse than Automaton Transfusion... can it?

That would be really bad then.

My friend saw Diaries and told me to stay way clear.

That's what I thought as well. I will be going out of my way to avoid this.

The girlfriend and I just watched this over the weekend. I started it know that it got bad reviews so I was expecting a b-style low budget film and that's what I got. The zombie attacks (for what few there where) where not too exciting but realistic, most of the story is about regular survivors after a month of the outbreak so they kind of know what they are doing.

Watching and not expecting a Romero or Boyle film helped alot. I've seen many a bad zombie films and this on is close to average, but I will be adding it to my collection.

5.5/10

As I stated over in the Zombie Diaries review thread (here - http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126368):

I really enjoyed this one actually. It's a very low-key affair. There's no explanation as to why some of these people are filming, or why there's a score in this movie - but all of that works (as opposed to "Diary of the Dead" which had a similar concept but unfortunately felt the need to explain every action of its characters). It all works here. It's a very odd movie, but it probably is, as one blurb says, the most realistic zombie movie ever made. A few moments of weak acting bring it down a notch, as well as some distracting scenes (things that you probably would run from instead of standing there and filming) but overall this is how "first-person" movies should be done. The makeup, as spacemonkey noted, is very well done, and those zombies look pretty creepy. And I agree, there's nothing really new in this movie, but it is executed very well, and from a "realistic" approach, it is way more effective than Diary of the Dead. I give it a 8.5/10.

And yes, it is way WAY better than Automaton Transfusion. Bleh.

Basically, if you're looking for a slow burning, creepy zombie flick, check it out. No, there are no big huge action scenes (but there is some sparse action). There's no giant military shoot-out. It's not called "Zombie Wars." Also I'm afraid I don't get the big complaint over the cover. The cover shows a guy in zombie apocalypse with his guns lowered. Granted, there's no scene quite like this in the movie, but I don't get how it's exactly misleading either. I've seen covers that have done much worse at falsifying what was actually in the movie.

Spambot for TOS violating Sites that sell MMORPG goods despite the fact that most games have banned such practices.

Well, I for one quite liked Zombie Diaries. Actually prefer it to Diary of the Dead. View it with an open mind. It's truly an indie flick, with basically zero budget, and I love those flicks, providing there's heart in there somewhere. First person "Blair Witch" style flick. See it. Don't listen to others. Don't listen to me. Watch it... or don't... but do.
