ROBOCOP VS. THE TERMINATOR

Growing up, the battle of the sci-fi films always came down to these two. Both about cyborgs, both made in the 80's, both were action-sci-fi. So which film do you like better?

My vote goes to Robocop. It's one of my favorite films and I never get tired of it. I enjoyed the Terminator, but there's too many good things to like about the world in which Robocop takes place in.

As for movies, I have a hard time saying, because both are pretty bad ass. I think maybe Robocop I could watch more often. The Terminator series overall is probably better than the Robocop serious, though.

If we are talking about robo fights, I would say Terminator could destroy Robocop in a direct fight, but if we are talking about cat and mouse, I think Robocop could outsmart the t-series.

When everything is considered, I'd probably rule on the side of Murphy.

I picked the Termintor because the series is better. The first robocop owns while the rest is from ok to pure crap in where all Termintor movies at worst decent.

I enjoyed the 1st Robocop over the 1st Terminator, but not by much. But the Terminator sequels put the franchise ahead of the Robocop series thanks to its sequels.

Robocop is a funny cult film, as is the first Terminator really. If i had to choose between the original two, Terminator is the better film.

And obviously T2 is better than Robocop 2, havent seen Robocop 3 though i can't imagine many films worse than T3.

As far as the movies go. I'm siding with RoboCop but Terminator is still a great film. Saw both of these movies on opening night back in the day.

This one was easy; The Terminator

Robocop is a fun flick but The Terminator is just a fucking classic! The way I see it Robocop didn't take it self very seriously and was really aiming for cheesy cult status whereas The Terminator was deadly serious and aimed for suspense. Plus this has vintage Arnie, how can you go wrong?

(T2 was even better imho and was one of the few sequels that was better than the original)

Being satirical isn't the same as not taking itself seriously. Robocop is funny because it made fun of society and technology, but not so much itself. I thought the villains in Robocop were pretty serious, but they just had different personalities. They were cold blooded killers, but they cracked jokes, talked about cars, bullshitted when they weren't killing or taking bribes. They're the kind of villains Tarantino would later get famous for writing. I think overall, as much as I like Arnold's Terminator, I'll take Kurtwood Smith's Bodicker any day of the week. He oozes so much personality as a villain. From the way he dips his finger in that dealer's wine to his kiddish chant when he shoots off Murphy's arm. Him, F. Murray Abraham and Alan Rickman are some of my favorite villains from the 80's. I do dig Arnold's less is more approach.

Kudos to both films having female protagonists who kick ass. I always thought Lewis was a really cool character in the film.

I love both and they are CLASSICS but even though Robocop had the better villians; I gotta go with The Terminator for the simple reason of having the balls of having a killer fucking annihilate an entire station full of pigs; er, excuse me- cops.
