When you're walking into hell, and you only have one choice for a savior, who do you choose: Ripley or Connor?

Sarah Connor - http://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGallery/Countdown_Film_Heroines/_4_sarah_connor.jpg

With a little luck on her side, she wouldnt have dropped that shotgun shell and would have single handedly done what the T-800 BARELY did and that's defeat the T-1000.

Ellen Ripley - http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k200/Jediii_2006/two/EllenRipley2.jpg

She stared down the most terrifying bitch ever put to screen and egged it on before blowing up all her children and beating the crap out of it and launching it into space.

So who do you choose?

both are brilliant performances, both are strong feminine characters, embracing female virtues like motherhood instead of simply being one of the boys with guns (ultraviolet, aeon flux, resident evil chick, ect.)

It took me a while to make up my mind, in the end i had to break it down.

- if Ripley were in Sarah's shoes, would she hesitate to shoot Dyson? Maybe. Would she cry about it? Most likely not. This might be a point in Sarah's favor for a humanity, but not crying about something and weighing in the morality in your actions would be humane too, albeit without looking like a pussy.

- What kind of woman were they before shit hit the storm? Sarah was a waitress, a normal girl. Ripley was a space trucker, who already kind of showed authority amongst many of her fellow workers. She didn't take any shit. Though at this point she was older than Sarah and already was a mother.

- did they sleep with Michael Biehn? Sarah did and spawned Batman. Though she also spawned a neo nazi. Ripley never got the chance, because Newt was watching.

- Ripely chose to face her fears in the first sequel. Sarah, having the pressure of impending doom on her conscience, got her bitch ass sent to a nut house.

- neither one could convince authorities that anything in their first film happened. Sarah responded by trying to beat the shit of the doctors she couldn't convince. Ripely just kind of said "fuck you corporate guys".

- Ripley took the lead in the antagonists destruction in all her films, Sarah relied on a guy and a robot for the most part.

i still don't know. I like Ripley more personally.

Great Question, I think I was going to call it a draw until Apzombie swayed me toward ripley with this

- Ripley took the lead in the antagonists destruction in all her films, Sarah relied on a guy and a robot for the most part.

Ripley. Considering she actually did sucessfully venture into hell to save someone by herself once, she has the experience edge.

When comparing the best films of each franchise I love Aliens slightly more than Terminator 2.

However, as a character, I think Sarah Connor is more badass than Ellen Ripley.

I would take either one, to be honest. One takes on aliens on a regular basis, the other has taken on several killing machines. Both have great motherly instincts and can take lickings, yet keep on ticking.

Coin toss for me.

Ripley. 'Cause even if Sarah Conner killed her, Wal-Mart would come around and clone her again.

All-in-all though, great battle and great thread. I've contemplated about this before.

I give it to Sarah Connor. I see it this way, if you put the Terminator up against an Alien, the Terminator would win easily. Even the basic t-800. You bring a t1000 into it and even a whole herd of Aliens would go down. Now Sarah Connor has been in battles with Terminators and won out both times so she is my choice for toughest. Ripley is in fact tough but her enemy is easier to beat.

Ripley's probably done more badass shit. As in, ya know, activities. But I think that Sarah Connor, as a character, is the bigger badass.

It's really a wash.

Jim Cameron did such a great job with both characters, hardening them through past experiences and instilling in them both a great paternal love that makes them all the more dangerous.

On one hand, Connor's nemesis the Terminator is far more dangerous than any alien, even the Queen couldnt hang with the T-1000.

On the other hand, Connor always had help - Reese and then the T-800. In the end though, it was her actions that really ruled the day.

If you were going into a bad situation, either would probably do the trick.

As long as you were her child. :)

i take conner. ripley is bad ass but realy she is just extremly lucky. on the other had you have conner who has been training for a war.

to all who said the terminator could kill the aliens. i say impossible they have acid blood. sure it could kill a couple but i think in the end it loses.

I would give it to Ripley because one shes the face of female heroines in films, also she takes a more physical role in all of her films. Sarah didn't become dangerous or a serious threat until Terminator 2 and that was temporary also she killed herself from all those cigarettes.
