In a couple of weeks, I will be attending my first horror convention! Needless to say, I am pumped as all hell. While Indy is a capitol for conventions, horror isn't usually one of them that comes here. Derek Mears, Tom Savini, Doug Bradley, Jason Mewes are all supposed to attend! Not to mention John muthafuckin! Kassir!

If anyone in the area is gonna attend, look me up. It's gonna be a a fucking bloodbath!

Thanks! Hells yes I'll be telling stories about it! It's the last weekend of March, and has some killer names attached, and a lot of obscure ones. Funny, it almost feels like a Lost Boys reunion, minus the bigger names from the flick. I'd say the 3 names I want to meet the most are Tom Savini(the man got me into doing make up effects), Doug Bradley(will definitely be getting his opinion on the new Hellraiser flick) and CJ Graham(awesome Jason).

Cool, Have a great time. Horror cons are alot of fun. Thats a nice guest list too. Remember to bring lots of $$. It always goes way to fast at a horror convention.
I am hitting up Chiller Theatre in NJ in April.

Yeah, it should be a blast! It's a first for me as well. Usually I would need to head over to Chicago to attend something like this.

Awesome. Yeah, the guest list blew me away. And one of the movies they are screening is Martyrs(flick I haven't had the chance to check out yet) so I'm digging on that.
And yeah, I get paid right before it happens, so I will be bringing plenty of cash. The Vendors alone are gonna be sucking up a lot of cash. Let alone certain guests. :D

Hell yeah, I plan on it. Don't live in PA though, Indy. Bloody-Disgusting has started a twice annual Horror Con here in Indy. So, this will be the first of many :D

I wouldn't get my hopes too high for Tom Savini. I've met him three times and he always seems really bored, as if the convention is the last place he wants to be. Plus he only gives one word answers. However he did sign my book for free so I can't complain too much. I met Doug Bradley very briefly and he seemed pretty nice and CJ GRAHAM was also a cool guy. As a matter of fact with Monster Mania starting tomorrow I think it's time for me to bump up my old thread. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Ive never attended a horror convention either, although I have plenty of chances since fangoria's usually hits the big cities, LA, where I live and not far from hollywood or downtown. Actuallly in April 17-19 there will be a convention at the convention center, with alot of cool people too.
so I am interested in what its like, I dont even know what to expect from a convention.:)
Have a good time, it sound awesome.

The only Horror Convention type event that I've been fortunate enough to attend was World Zombie Day at the Monroeville Mall. I got to meet a few actors and they were all very kind and talkative, so I'm grateful for that much. :)

Well, I have to say now that it ended Sunday(had to work yesterday), I had a BLAST! Everyone I met was very cool and accessible. A lot of people, even Savini, seemed to be genuinely having fun with the fans. Hell, I had a beer at the hotel bar with Bill Moseley! Now THAT was fun. :D
An interesting note, I asked Doug Bradley if he was going to be in the upcoming Hellraiser remake. He was very cryptic about that subject. All he would say(with a sly smile) was "wait and see." So here's hoping!
Also, I thought Derek Mears and CJ Graham were just fucking awesome people. Both of them really loved their time as Old Hockeypuss, it really showed. Made it all the better for me since I loved both of them in the role.
Hands down the person that meant the most to me would have to of been Savini. It was an amazing time to be able to pick his brain, seeing as he has been the biggest influence in my life. He was full of life and was more than happy to give me tips. The man is a class act.
All in all, it was a great experience and I can't wait until the next one here in July.

Dude, I'm jealous :D
Meeting savini must be incredible. Here in the UK we don't get as many horror conventions, and the ones we have usually don't attract the big hitters.
That beer you had with Bill must of been a 'wtf? I can't believe I'm here' moment. :p
Glad you enjoyed yourself, Sounds like an awesome convention.

Yeah, I loved every minute of it. Oh, and as a bonus I FINALLY got to see Martyrs in a special screening there.
Tom Savini is MY IDOL! Ever since I was a kid and first saw Friday the 13th, I was enraptured by the effects. I knew right then that's what I wanted to do with my life. To finally meet the man that inspired me(and plenty of others) was an experience I really can't describe.
And about the Bill thing, my exact words when I realized who I was drinking with was, "Holy shit!" :D Was honestly stirring up a conversation with the man about movies and didn't know who he was at first. Had a few drinks in me at that time so that's my excuse. He is a REALLY cool dude that really has genuine passion for horror.

Good for you man. Glad you had fun and that Savini was more of a pleasure for you than he was for me. I had met Moseley once about three years ago but don't remember much about that experience. Not as good as having a drink with him I'm sure. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Moseley is always awesome and fun...Savini is seemingly a hit or miss. I enjoyed him letting me get a picture for free with ease, but he didn't seem to want to talk at all to anybody for me as well.

Yeah, I guess I caught him on a good day. Then again, it may have been what I talked with him about. I'm sure Tom has heard the same questions millions of times about the movies he made. I spoke with him about his art, as well as tips to help me with mine.
And Moseley was just awesome. As respected as he is by genre fans, he really hasn't let it get to his head. I respect that.

Yeah, the fact that he doesn't charge is definitely cool. After hearing both of your accounts though, I really feel that I am extremely lucky. Believe me, I'm NEVER going to forget it.

Its always a hit or miss at cons...thankfully he was free and I didn't care much for him, just had the opportunity for a pic. Atleast you DID care about meeting him and enjoyed it, it sucks when you meet someone you dig much and pay and have them be a complete prick.

Yeah I can understand that. Oh if he would of been a prick believe me, I'd of told him to fuck off(not to mention blasting his ass all over this site). But yeah I really thought he was a classy guy.

I was at Horrorhound Weekend. This one had the biggest attendence of all 3 I've been to. I have met Tom Savini 2 times before, so I skipped his booth this go-around. The highlight of this show was meeting John Saxon. There is an artist named Jeff Rebner who has a booth at the horrorhound shows, I love his artwork and he is really cool to talk to (he also did the character art for American Dad, and did the animation layout for King of the Hill). Me and him hung out at the sculpture demo. After all of that, I would say the best Horrorhound Weekend was the March 2008 show in Indianapolis. At the '08 show I got to meet the freakin legend himself Ruggero Deodato, Kane Hodder, Doug Bradley, Simon Bamford, Chris Sarandon, and a bunch of others. I'm glad to see other Schmoes coming to this kind of small convention.
