What genre of movie do you all think works best with shoestring budgets and equipment?

I think you can make a decent, tight budget romantic comedy or film noir.

What do you think?

Bradox, while those will work fine,
i find that doing some kind of drama will work well too.
Thats what i plan to start with, and i have no budget at all.

Just a suggestion.

Good Luck in your endeavors.

i say HORROR. what are the two highest grossing indie films???? Halloween and Blair witch, come on. halloween was made for 1 mil and blair witch was for 60K. if its ubique enough the horror is the best way to go . out.

horror might take less money, but Robert Rodriguez made an action movie for $7000, so almost anything genre is possible. but I'd say comedy is the easiest on a shoestring budget

Comedy without a doubt. All you need is brains and wits.
Now, I know that can apply to drama too, but with drama you have to pay really good actors, and...well, that makes the buget a little less tiny, y'know? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

I'm constantly working with the smallest budgets and I always find that it's best to write a script to suit the budget. Dont go writing a script with people getting skinned and buildings blowing up if you have a budget of $100.

I'm working on (of all things) a dark musical comedy and have a budget of $750 and I'm doing okay. Don't look for my name at the Golden globes any time soon
