I can't believe he has another film so soon. It looks very quirky and faux-indie, but I'm so into it. Love John Krasinski... can't wait.

This definitely just moved up on my most anticipated of the year list. Wow. I was expecting something really safe. Looks great!

Mendes has yet to disappoint, and this looks to continue that trend. Looks great!

Looks like another winner to add to Mendes's flawless filmography thus far!

Is it just me, or is Sam Mendes just by far one of the best filmmakers working today? This looks like yet another winner from him - the trailer looks fantastic, and the movie itself looks like another entry in the "quirky indie dramedy" genre a-la Sideways, Little Miss Sunshine, or Juno. This one looks perhaps a little bleaker and quirkier than those other films, but it also looks really funny and, hopefully, is as poignant as those films are. The script certainly seems to be an early contender for the Best Original Screenplay Oscar. It's great to see Mendes experimenting in other genres (comedy this time, although American Beauty was pretty funny too now that I think about it), and it's even BETTER to see Mendes picking up the pace in terms of his film projects, releasing a new movie just over half a year after his last one. Looking over Roger Deakins' IMDb page I was disappointed to see that he didn't shoot this one like he shot Mendes' last two films, and lent them his brilliant cinematography skills, but I was overjoyed to see that none other than Ellen Kuras, the genius who shot, among others, Blow, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (her cinematography on this film should have won the Oscar, or at least been nominated; unfortunately the Academy seems to have an issue with female cinematographers - not ONE has been nominated in the history of the awards!), The Ballad of Jack and Rose, and a handful of Spike Lee films. With Mendes' unique visual eye, I'm sure the film will at least LOOK good. No worries about that. In any case, this has shot RIGHT up to the top of my list of anticipated movies, and the fact that it's coming out in the Summer and that they're not putting it off to "awards season" just makes me happy, because it means I get to see it sooner!
