EXT. STREET-NIGHT-SUBURBIA
Wheaton Illinois. A small town located about 30 miles outside Chicago.
SUPER the legend: "Wheaton Illinois. November 1st. 2001."
A HOUSE
settled on a neighborhood block where the 1st floor bay window gleams a dim light. The flood lights in the trees cast mysterious shadows upon the Georgian home.
PAN IN
on the above window that also shines off light.
INT. BEDROOM-STRODE HOUSE
Thirteen-year-old Danny Strode reads a story aloud to the 6-year-old Stephen Strode. He closes the story and sets the book down.
STEPHEN
I'm really tired
DANNY
Well that is why I am putting you to bed. Goodnight.
Danny leans over his brother and gently kisses his head. He than walks to the doorway and clips off the lights. He is stopped by Stephen's voice. The only light upon Stephen is the ray from the hallway.
STEPHEN
Danny? What time will mommy be home?
DANNY
A little while. Don't worry about it. You'll see her in the morning. Goodnight.
DANNY
closes the door and the light in Stephen's room shrinks down to nothing.
INT. KITCHEN-STRODE HOUSE
DANNY
tears open a pouch of Ragu pasta and pours it into a bowl.
ON MICROWAVE
Danny pulls the door open and sets the food inside. He punches in some buttons and his food begins to cook.
INT. GREAT ROOM-STRODE HOUSE
Danny relaxes on the sofa with a steaming bowl of pasta in his hand. He scoops up the remote and powers on the TV.
ON TV
He flips through a few channels and stops on something that catches his attention. A MASK that was worn by the vicious Michael Myers is on screen for the news. Danny closes his eyes as he briefly recalls...
CUT TO:
DANNY, when he was 7. He clutches his baby brother Stephen. He is inches away from Michael as he swings his knife at him when he was hiding behind the pipes.
FLASHES TO:
DANNY, He blinks back to reality and focuses on the news.
NEWSCASTER
Brutally murdered 6 teenagers that were part of the Dangertainment cast and crew along with a mortician which was the basis of his escape. And another possible victim was his sister Lauri Strode.
As the horrible news fills Danny's ears, his look of abomination intensifies. He is glued to the screen.
NEWSCASTER
She was found dead last night from falling from the Sanitarium roof. Police still aren't certain if this was homicide, or suicide. We at this time would like to alert all people that Michael Myers is on the loose and could be anywhere.
THE TV
is cut off by Danny as he stands up and rushes out of the room.
INT. KITCHEN-STRODE HOUSE
DANNY
runs to the phone and punches in a number.
INT. RESTAURANT-CITY
KARA STRODE
sits at an elegant table with a man, Eric Pipell. A ring cuts through their conversation. Kara signals Eric to silence and she pulls a cell phone out of her purse.
KARA
Hello?...
We're eating...
What?...
Aunt Lauri?...
Oh my God!...
Ok we are leaving. We'll get home as fast as we can.
INT. KITCHEN-STRODE HOUSE
DANNY
hangs up the phone. He begins to walk back to the family room but he stops dead in his tracks when he sees the laundry room door wide open. Leaves blow past the doorway on the sidewalk. Danny stares blankly at it not sure what to do. He finally builds up the courage and walks toward the door. He reaches it and gazes outside. His cat scurries past Danny from the house and runs into the neighbors's shrubs.
DANNY
Zigfried! Get back here!
EXT. NIGHT-SIDE OF THE STRODE'S HOUSE
A SUDDEN BLAST
illuminates the sky as a bolt of lightning and crack of thunder explodes. Danny is startled into a panic. He runs to the bushes and pulls out his cat. He gets half way back to the door and he stops. He looks through the open gate into the pitch dark backyard. He spins his head around to look behind him.
ANOTHER
series of lightning blinks out and we see
THE SHAPE
standing behind Danny off in the distant backyard. Of course he is unaware of what is behind him. He darts back into the house as a down pour slowly erupts.
INT. STRODE HOUSE
DANNY
shuts the door and walks into the kitchen. He sets down the squirming cat and it bolts off.
INT. GREAT ROOM-STRODE HOUSE
DANNY
enters and picks up his half-eaten bowl of pasta. He gets an uncomfortable urge to turn on the news. He grabs the remote and powers on the TV. The screen fades in on...
NEWSCASTER
After a life of running from her brother, he finally cut it short. Lauri Strode will always be a legendary hero to all of us.
DANNY
Poor Aunt Laurie
AS
the newscaster goes on about other news, Danny's eyes water. He wipes them with his sleeve and turns the TV off.
INT. KITCHEN-STRODE HOUSE
DANNY
walks in and noticing that he has lost his appetite, puts his dish in the sink. He rubs his eyes again and takes his hands away from his face only to reveal
THE SHAPE
standing outside the window in front of him. The vision causes him to leap back. Danny crashes into a Play Skool car behind him and tumbles onto the floor. He regains himself and looks out the window to see
NOTHING.
Was it real? Danny walks to the window and looks out into the stormy night. He steps back extremely shaken.
CUT TO:
DANNY-FOYER
He jogs to the light switch beside the front door and clips on the interior and exterior lights.
CUT TO:
HALLWAY
It is illuminated up by the lights.
CUT TO:
BASEMENT
The lights blink on revealing Danny at the top of the stairs after he had just clipped on the lights.
CUT TO:
DANNY'S BEDROOM
He turns on the lights.
CUT TO:
ANOTHER UPSTAIRS HALLWAY
Danny switches on the lights and leans his head and arm against the wall. He is panting heavily after just running around the whole house turning the lights on.
SUDDENLY
A CRASH from downstairs erupts. Danny is startled severely. The look on his face turns white. He sits there listening. Danny is smart. He silently creeps to his brother's room and opens the door. He rushes to his brother's bedside. He shakes Stephen.
DANNY
Stephen! Stephen you gotta get up now. Come on buddy.
STEPHEN'S eyes blink open. With out a word, he obediently sits up and gets up out of bed stretching and rubbing his eyes. Danny takes Stephen's hand and put his other to his lips to let him know top keep quiet. They walk out into the upstairs hall and look down into the foyer.
STEPHEN
(whispering) I have to go to the bathroom.
DANNY
(whispering) Stephen, just hang on ok. We are going to have to take a quick run over to the Goodman's house. OK. You can go when we get there. Now be quiet till we are out of the house.
STEPHEN nods his head and Danny listens for someone one more time. He than pulls him toward the stairs and they creep down into the foyer. Danny latches onto the door handle and tries to twist it. It doesn't move. He keeps trying and jiggles the knob. He than realizes that the center knob for the lock has been ripped out. He than pulls Stephen into the living room.
DANNY
(whispers) Get down there.
STEPHEN crawls under the grand piano in the corner and sits against the wall. Danny ducks down and leans in to tell him something.
DANNY
(whispers) OK. I want you to stay here until I come back alright. Don't move.
STEPHEN
(whispers) But Danny I really gotta go.
DANNY
(whispers) No STEPHEN. Stay here no matter what.
DANNY gets up and walks through the foyer into the hallway that leads to the kitchen. He is very poised and alert yet very nervous. He enters the kitchen and sees
ANGLE ON:
GLASS DOOR
THE door to the deck in the kitchen is wide open. Danny's jaw drops. He than notices the mess on the floor. The knife drawer had been pulled out. Knifes were scattered all over the floor. Danny gulps and picks one up. He sneaks over to the door and peeks around the corner to look outside.
NOTHING
PUZZLED, he steps in the doorway and looks around outside. He shuts the door and locks it and looks through the glass.
SUDDENLY
THE SHAPE crashes through the window adjacent to Danny and grabs him. Danny screams than goes wild with the knife. As Michael tries to pull him outside, he gouges the knife over and over into Michael's shoulders. Michael releases Danny and Danny falls to the ground. Michael reaches up and pulls the knife out of his shoulder and falls down. Danny catches his breath and stands up. Without getting to close, he leans forward and looks down at Michael on the deck.
EXT. DECK-STRODE HOUSE-NIGHT
MICHAEL
lays on his stomach lifeless. The ground around him is covered with blood and broken glass and is being mixed with the pouring rain. Lightning flickers on him.
INT. KITCHEN-STRODE HOUSE
DANNY
reaches for the phone and dials the police.
OPERATOR
Hello. This is 911. What is your emergency?
DANNY
(walking into the dining room) Yeah, I'm at my house and we were attacked. It's Michael Myers.
OPERATOR
Are you sure?
DANNY
(angered) No I'm not sure! What do you want me to do? Walk up to him and ask him who he is? (He starts to walk back toward the smashed window)
OPERATOR
Well than where is he now?
DANNY
(approaching window) He's knocked out on...
Danny's words are cut off when he sees the empty spot where Michael had just been lying.
DANNY
Oh no! Oh my God! Listen, I live at 1966 Hampton Dr.! I don't know where he is! Please! Please hurry!
In his moment of emotional breakdown, Danny's phone call is cut short by darkness which swallows up his surroundings. The power had been cut. Danny drops the phone and runs through the foyer into the living room. When he looks under the piano, he sees
NOTHING.
Danny's legs weaken as he feels his whole body seems to be shutting down. He stumbles over to the stairs and leans on the banister. He faces the landing of the T shaped stairs going up. On the other side of the landing, out steps
THE SHAPE.
Danny leaps back into a wall screaming. Michael tilts his head to the side examining his prey.
A NOISE
from upstairs releases. The sound of a flushing toilet. Both Danny and Michael jerk their heads up toward the sound. They then both look each other in the eyes. After a moment, Danny breaks up the stairs toward Michael. Michael steps up also to stop Danny. When Danny reaches the landing, he turns to go to the second floor inches away from being stabbed in the foot. He reaches the top and runs down the hall. He gets to the bathroom, opens the door, and pulls Stephen out. Michael reaches the top of the stairs and faces the two helpless kids.
STEPHEN
Who is that?
DANNY
Go!
They run into a bedroom, Danny's bedroom. Danny locks the door and quickly pulls the string to the attic door. He unfolds the ladder and he and Stephen climb up just as Michael breaks down the door.
INT. ATTIC-STRODE HOUSE
DANNY AND STEPHEN
walk from rafter to rafter as they make their way across the attic. Michael's head pops up out of the door hole. Danny grabs a 2x4 and drives it down into the ground. It smashes a hole through the floor. He than kicks a bigger hole. Below is Stephen's room, right over the bed.
DANNY
Stephen, jump down. Hurry!
STEPHEN
Ok!
MICHAEL
advances toward them. As Stephen hangs his legs through the floor, Danny gets the 2x4 ready. Michael lunges at Danny and Danny swings the piece of wood driving it right into Michael's head. He doesn't even lose his balance. Stephen drops down through the hole and lands on the bed. Michael shoves Danny and he falls backward. When he hits the thin flooring, he goes right through it. He lands in Kara's bedroom. Danny lays there hurt and looks up at the hole in the ceiling. Michael steps out and looks down at him. With one step, Michael drops down landing right over Danny. He reaches down and picks him up with one arm. With the other hand, he raises the same knife that Danny had stabbed him with before. Just before Michael is about to kill him, Danny says...
DANNY
Uncle Michael! Uncle Michael, please!
MICHAEL
freezes. He wants to listen to his nephew.
DANNY
Please! Let Stephen go. Kill me but please let Stephen live.
STEPHEN
steps in the doorway. Michael looks over at him.
STEPHEN
Please put him down mister.
DANNY
sees his chance. He knees Michael in the groin and Michael drops him. Danny leaps back as Michael aggressively swings the knife at him. Danny runs out the door pulling Stephen with him. Michael follows. The sound of sirens emerge as the two kids run down the stairs into the kitchen. Danny unlocks the kitchen door and they escape outside. They run to the side of the house, open the gate, and toward the front. Danny stops and turns around. He sees Michael step out behind the open gate in the backyard. Behind Danny and Stephen, police cars pull into the drive way. Danny and Stephen watch the cops come out of the cars and run toward them. When they turn around, Michael is gone.

Where is he?
STEPHEN
He was just there.
DANNY
He'll be back.
