I've been planning this for almost a year. I should be able to go Saturday if all goes well with the doctors pushing my guts back through my stomach wall on Friday. At the least I'd like to get a room at the Sheraton during the convention if I'm not feeling up to going into the convention. There's a lot of schmoes in the area. I'm surprised more people aren't all over this.

I had a total blast at this. It was my first movie convention in my life. My wife and kid came along with me - my wife is a big gore fan, and my kid has a creepy fascination for horror movies (he totally understands filmmaking, so no neglect here...)
I'm going to get some pictures up here in the next day or so.
For now, all I have to say is that Ernie Hudson is one of the nicest guys you can meet. He gave my kid an autographed Stay Puft Marshmellow Man adding that he had been saving it for 2 days for "just the right person" -- He signed it "You are special." --- He did this totally out of kindness and I mean, not just that, this is one of those people I'll talk to and am just thinking how nice they are. He's one of the good guys. :)
Great, great time --- thanks for helping get the word out Don. My wife befriended the organizer's sister and we'll be onboard next year helping out however we can. Thanks again!!! This old dog has learned a new trick and I seriously can't believe I'd never done anything like this before. I owe it to you, man!

Yeah, these cons can certainly be pretty fun. Glad you had a good time Bubba and that Ernie was so nice. Looking forward to seeing those pictures so get to work! Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

First off, my apologies, because I had a major hernia surgery about 16 hours before showing up at the convention and was admittedly pretty out of sorts -- this resulted in me forgetting I had a camera most of the time, so I only ended up with a handful of good pictures. I'm really hoping Don and others are going to be posting the money shots soon. There are some others we met while there who got pictures and I'm waiting for those to come via e-mail. I also had some awesome pictures of the great Don Calfa that didn't come out because my shutter was stuck and I wasn't previewing my pictures.
I also apologize that a lot of these are Bubba's Family-centric. I'm expecting some more pictures to be shared.
But for now...
My son, after I told him to get dressed for the "horror movie convention":

These next pictures were during a costume contest. They didn't come out too great because I was so far back and it was dim, but I tried to brighten them as much as I could without ruining them. Along with many of the pictures I missed, I didn't get my favorite costume here, so if anyone has a picture of the girl who was dressed up as "The Ring girl", I'd really love to have a copy of that. It was fantastic. I was too busy laughing and holding my stomach in pain to get one:

Q: What happens when you get a bunch of movie monsters on stage?
A: THE MOST AWESOME FIGHT EVER!!!!

Finally, and after my kid saw his first heavy metal show, we missed the burlesque show, and eventually ended up back in the hotel room where my son needed a snack before bed.:

This whole thing was new to me, and I felt I took an "amateur" approach to the whole thing, I'm also not used to taking pictures of celebrities and so forth, so a lot of times I wasn't thinking in that mode. It was a really awesome experience though, and I hope in addition to what we get in this thread, that next year I'll have the whole thing down and be able to bring a lot more to the table. This was one of the best times I've had in a long time. Now I'll have to get to work on horror movie flash cards so I can get to work with soon to be new addition to the Strangelove household. (I have a feeling next year, with a baby in tow, we'll definitely be going in shifts between the room and the convention floor. :) )

Thats cool that Ernie Hudson was wearing a Ghosbusterish jumpsuit. I got to meet him once and he seemed to be having a great time.
