To me, AP is just more interesting and entertaining. Not to mention, better made than F13, NOES, etc.

I did enjoy American Pyscho but I can't say I prefer it over a movie from the Friday/Halloween/Elm Street series unless you choose the worst ones from each.

I grew up watching these franchises so they kinda bring me back and the big names like Freddy/Jason/Michael are the main reason I'm such a huge fan of the genre today.

American Psycho ain't a slasher. It doesn't follow any slasher convention, really.

But I do fall under the belief that it is a horror film unlike some.

To me nothing is more better than the A Nightmare On Elm Street Franchise, and the Halloween films are amazing as well. I haven't seen American Psycho, but I know that I will never see another film that I will love as the eight Nightmare films. In comparison to Friday the 13, it may be better...but ANOES and Halloween are incontestable to me.

American Psycho is nothing close to being a slasher if you ask me...its borderline horror for me. I'll always have love for the old school slashers and can never walk away from them, but always have to expand and be a little diverse to the other flicks out there.

I think what Duce means is he likes a serial killer film that will make him think and has interesting character development of how the guy becomes who he is, over a slasher film that's goal is to be scary and have cool death scenes.

I would recommend he check out Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer if he hasn't already.

As long as the film is good I don't care if it's a slasher or if it's more psychological. I actually didn't like American Psycho on my first viewing but appreciated it more on a rewatch. If I had a gun to my head though I would probably pick the more traditional slashers for the fondness of childhood memories and all. If you prefer more "realistic and developed" murderers though a recent favorite of mine is Mr. Brooks and you also can't go wrong with the original Stepfather. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Yeah, American Psycho likewise took me multiple viewings for it to grow on me and now its a favorite of mine. I'm also the same with the childhood memories aspect but now and days I just don't find many new/recent slashers appealing.
