I'm sure some of this (maybe all) has been covered in other, more specific threads, but I didn't see a general thread regarding Horror Conventions. And I'm inquiring about them because I may be going to my first one this weekend: the Full Moon Inc. Tattoo and Horror Fest here in Nashville.

Their site (fullmooninc.net) is kinda disorganized, but if you scroll down you'll see the guest list is pretty impressive (especially considering we get very few Cons in this area) - Sid Haig, William Forsythe, Ken Foree, Gunnar Hansen, Edwin Neal, John Dugan, Derek Mears, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, Theresa Tilly, Betsy Baker, Ellen Sandweiss, Jason Mears, and a few others. Turns out this thing falls on my birthday week and I'm thinkin it might be a good gift to myself to go check it out on Saturday.

Moving on, I thought maybe you guys could offer me some tips on going to one of these things. I know comfy shoes are a must, and I've been to a couple of small Comic Cons, but it's been awhile. Should I take my own stuff to be signed? Will everyone generally charge me for an autograph? Any specific "nono's" that you know of?

Share your wisdom and experience Schmoes! And feel free to tell your stories. Thanks for the help!

Don't forget to have fun. :)

Honestly I haven't a clue, I've never been to a Horror Con in my life.

All the guests that are going to be at the Con you are going to are horror con regulars. So they'll have a few different 8x10's at there table and maybe some DVDS. Price wise-I would say $20-$30 an auto is a good bet. If you by one of thier items. To get your own item signed it would still be around $20. Doesnt make sense, I know. All the guests should have a sign on thier table on how much different things cost. They shouldnt charge for a photo-op with them if you buy an auto. A photo-op with them without buying an auto would probably run $5-$10. But some might do it for free. A great place to get free photo-ops is at the bar after the show is over. I ran into Derek Mears and Kane Hodder at the bar. They where gladly taking pix with whoever wanted one.

Get to the con as early as possible. That way you can get to the autograph room early before it gets to full. Friday is the best day to go as well. It'll be alot less crowded. The guests listed so far are the regulars at the Cons. So I dont think the lines would be crazy long.

Merchandise wise, you can haggle with the DVDR sellers. They usaully ask $15-$20 a movie. But you can get them down in price. Especially if you buy a few discs. Also, make sure to watch the disc before you buy.

Thanks Ratlehed, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Although as the weekend draws closer, babysitter and money issues are coming up, so I'm not sure if I'm going to get to go. We'll see. Thanks again!

That's a pretty good list of people, if it were in my area, I'd go for sure.

Nice tips Ratlehed, I've never been to a Horror Con but hope to one day, definetly some things to think about when I do
